How did the rest of you guys make out this swell? Strong side shore winds made and are still making conditions pretty crappy here. I hope atleast some of you guys scored since I didn't. So let's hear how it was, if you got pics let's see them. And happy thanksgiving mangs!
Ditto. Enjoy the carvings, be it the waves, streets (that's for you Emass, bro'), or the turkey! Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Happy Thanksgiving dudes! (And Julia). I'm thankful I was born near the ocean, and for all the entertainment and forecasting that this site provides. I'm also thankful for all my teeth, and a working wang. Most of all, I'm thankful for this holiday, in which we gather in remembrance of the great friendship and peace between our peoples and Native Amer.... nevermind. Let us eat in silence.
Look what I stuffed myself into at long sands beach this morning. The wind was west and gusting at 40 mph. Almost perfect off shore wind but it made it hard to catch the waves.
Am I hyping reality........ Or was today really good. It's been so long without quality, I'm confused. I don't know what is what anymore. Two dudes paddled out, hung on the inside for a minute and then headed to shore. Two trucks pulled-up, looked and left. A few random crackers walked-up, checked it, and never came back. Am I, missing something? How do you pass on that? I'm not complaining as I had it to my lonesome, but I just don't get it. Like, I scored something similar to Mr. Ryan's picture. I'm actually stoked aboot the east coast again. My God, I just love New Jersey. Of course, I'm kind of bummed because it could be two years before I get waves like that again.......You know what it is that I be sayin' ?
Happy thanksgiving guys. We got skunked down in vb but there will be another one. Enjoying some whiskey turkey and football. Hopefully everybody has a good one!
Northern Ocean County early this morning was something to be very thankful for! Now i can go to the wife's family to eat turkey with a smile on my face!!
to the stranger who shattered my car window last night, thanks a lot...most expensive "thanksgiving" ever. Didn't even steal anything, just shattered it for the "fun" of it
Must of been an early morning session because by midmorning - no bueno in northern Monmouth County - its practically flat now. Forecast seemed overhyped or I'm looking at the wrong spot. Sounds like yesterday and super early today was the call here...
Can't speak for the entire state, but surf was still pumping at noon at my southern New Jersey jetty. That's when I left. I should have gone back out this afternoon. I really should have. I don't care.....if there's anything left tomorrow I'm on it. I'm going to milk this dog as much as I can.
It was a nice chest to shoulder high swell down here...nothing epic like past Turkey Days, but lots of fun and I am very thankful for that. It was funny, because when I checked my local spot it was almost crowded which is very rare. I paddled out and saw some of the Juno Pier crew out and I was like what's up and they said it was sooooo crowded in Juno and Jupiter that they came here. I laughed at the thought, and am also very very thankful they built the Juno Pier because it used to be crowded here until that happened. Best wishes to everyone, and I hope you get smoooore waves. Nice pics brahs! Waterbaby, be glad it wasn't your tires that were slashed. Way more dinero. But I do feel your pain. Hopefully you are due for some good nuggs to even things out.
Uhm, it was exciting. It was beyond cold which made it less enjoyable. Quality really wasn't that great yesterday or today in my opinion here in ocean county. The sandbars don't seem to be set up right. I caught me a few. I had fun. Cold. Happy Thanksgiving all. Surfing was cold this morning. It was cold. Some good ones. But it was cold.
I caught a few really good rides in Gloucester early AM... a lot of the set waves were shoulder-to-head wide walls with no peaks closing out but I was getting fast drops + nice shoulders on the inside nuggets, offshore wind blowing like crazy. It seemed like 75% of the surfers driving up and checking out the waves were then leaving for another nearby break that they thought might be more sheltered from the wind/less closerd out, but I didn't want to **** around trying to figure out a new spot when I only had a couple hours before I had to leave for my Thanksgivukah activities... First time riding my new board and I LOVE it. Not sure if it is the shape or size or what but when I gave it a little rail on my bottom turns it was whipping me to the side WAY better than my other board... What I don't really love is my winter fins (haven't finished modifying my crappy XL makapuus yet so I am using some "blade" fins that actually came free with my apartment) but they were good enough to catch waves with which is all that really matters... Maybe going back to Gloucester in the AM depending on the forecast, since I have the day off work again...
Sorry bout that breh. Similar to Lattimer in The Program movie, I was super stoked from nailing a flat land 360 slide on the Carver last night and sprinted through the parking lot alternating between head butting and punching through car windows. Sometimes I don't know my own strength and can lack self-control. Let me know how much the glassing job costs and Spicoli's got you. My apologies again braddah.
