So the military is bad now too? It's very easy to act completely self-sufficient when you have, and USE all the services provided by the government. Wars happen. Alright, I'm an old fart with kids and myself in all of the above situations. One son is an 18 Delta in Special Forces. 24 and already an E6. NOT a sheep. Is in the 7th Group AKA Senoritas and Margaritas.
Another son 5 years of college with a hmm eh... Psychology degree. He is now a certified personal trainer working at the Y and trying to build up his client base. On the plus side he did travel throughout Europe and learned to surf while living on WB.
Daughter, Associates degree. No debt, but not really sure what she wants to do and now she's busy raising my grandson.
Son in law. Not really a sheep but he needed/needs the structure of the military. He needs a sheep herder...
Me. after wasting 4 years on a er hmm.... Communications degree went back to school to be a teacher. Which was a kick @ss profession for the first 15 years.
If I had a time machine, I'd have done the trade school thing.

That's a generalization.

If you are serious, you can make a good career in any of the branches of service. You're not going to end up in a position where you're unhappy unless you get careless and allow yourself to be placed there. It's a job, but they won't hold your hand and babysit you towards a high posiiton.

And the days where the military get crap pay are gone. Most of the enlisted guys I know have a very generous "take home pay". I also know they can surf often, because when I'm out in the water, so are they (although a good majority of them are on SUPs )

 

don't go to college, full time boring jobs are waiting on the other side... and that's if you're lucky. Your grammar will appreciate it though...

I like not being in Jail that why I pay taxes.
