First off, I would be pissed if I was in that lineup. That is completely uncalled for in a crowded lineup.

But people saying it was only head high and they did not need the ski are off. They are not towing in because it's big. Like others said they are doing it to film. There is no issue with them using a ski in waves that size. Look at all the video from Kirra earlier this year. Fanning, Kerr, Bede, Kelly, Parko and others were stepping off in perfect 2' overhead surf.

Saying that they should use a GoPro is wrong too. Getting a cool GoPro vid is not the same as getting a clip. And I'm sure they do have GoPro barrel shots from that day. They usually do.

That being said, it was a douche move to do it in a crowd.

    1. Completely unnecessary.
    2. Getting a shot for sponsors? Paddle in and get the shot, or go to an empty peak and get the shot
    3. They got the shot great there sponsors must be happy. What will the sponsors do next time when they seriously hurt/kill someone

    Stop Crying

Listen up you little girls! If your from Sussex County, then your cool with Buck. He ain't going to ask for anyone's permission. He was 1 of the first 5 in the water that morning. There is a pecking order at every break and there certainly is one at South Side and the locals hold it down. If you are a local and you have a problem, just speak up. Don't hold back. Conversation will be had. Raven and Buck DID NOT put anyone but themselves in danger. I am a lifeguard of many years and I always look after the boys. It seems to me that the only people *****ing about this situation either "were not there," or "simply didn't have the sack to say something to there face." The local boys are totally fine with the jet ski in the line-up. If your not from hear then get over it. Grown men shouldn't care what other men do unless it puts them in harms way. Raven and Buck always offer me waves and everyone else who wants to get a deep one. Can they surf without it? Hell yeah. But the ski adds to the art form that they are crafting. Surfing is art and they found another way to express themselves. Their style is new and with anything artistic comes criticism. They get that 85% of that crowd was NOT from Sussex County and half of those people did NOT belong in the water. Still, no one was ever put into harms way (but themselves.) And do NOT speak of sponsors because Buck & Raven are good people and great watermen. There attitude in and out of the water is amazing. So stop talking **** and if you have something to say to them - say it to their face.

I must have missed the artistic expression from that video. Towing into a shore break is like finger painting.

You mean there's still a hierarchy at any spot these days? Especially an easy access spot on the east coast?

It's kind of cute the whole Big Fish in an extremely small pond syndrome. Ah, we all need to feel important don't we. Well, I hope ESM runs a photo or two of that artistic expression session.

I'm not from Sussex County, so I guess I'm not allowed to sound-off on Swellinfo.com - America's premiere swell forecasting site. But I'm form New Jersey, and we have priority on the whole coast. We're top of the food chain. You guys always remember that. YEAH, you too, Erock, sitting down there in Southern North Carolina.

And don't call me or MFitz a girl. Mfitz holds it down at a spot across the street from the projects. Rough locals, unless you're a customer.

Don't y'all realize that this crew is half-responsible for the crowds? Exposure comes at a price. You guys have to ax yourselves if it's worth it. You can't try and get media exposure and then complain aboot crowds. Exposure brings crowds.

Anyways, thanks for listening to a non-Sussex County person. And I like and admire your stretch of coast....And your top dogs are good surfers, and they are very nice gentlemen.....except when they kill ducks.

JEEEEZ !!! These forgotten, hidden states - Rhode Island and Delaware - seem to have the most problems. What is up with that?

Those of us born and raised on the natural well water were infested with an overdose of testosterone leaked out of the Indian River Power Plant in our formative early teen years. Unfortunately the only place for us to vent our excess girth / length is through internet forum fights and machine assisted barrels.

SteveO's response is comical. if it's a matter of putting people in danger they absolutely did. this is the exact reason PWC bans exists around crowded bathing beaches in the summer. You of all people should know this as a "lifegaurd".

SteveO... you are a clown. I know for a fact that one of the people complaining about it in this thread was one of the first guys in the water that morning and has been surfing their for years. How do you justify that they were only putting themselves in danger? I watched the ski almost get sucked over the falls multiple times while there were people in the impact zone. Also watched the ski fly from one side of the lineup to the other to steal position from guys trying to drop in. I was snagging waves off on my own to the side of the peak, but next time I will gladly speak up. Heard plenty of IRI "locals" getting real pissed off about it too.

If you kooks tried that here you'd get a tree full of coconuts launched at you and you would be beaten as you tried to get your asswhole machines out of the water at the boat ramp. Just sayin'.

This may be the best post I have ever read. One of the many reasons I get in the water to begin with is because it is the only place in my world that I am not assisted by a machine or software. It is me, my fellow paddlers, and the ocean. I certainly hope they never come to my break.

I heard all those jet ski kooks had heated wetsuits on! Also they were towing in guys on those wave jet surfboards.
