I swear I love you all, and I actually agree with everyone all the time about everything that just so happens to be being discussed. Wow, apparently you can miss a lot not checking the forum for a few days. I don't think this thread is as long as the bongs thread but I'm sure it grew at some kind of record pace. Lets' take it full circle and incorporate bongs and overpriced surf boards that embody "true surfing". Bongs are great but vapos are much better.

Have any of you history experts read the A People's History of the United States? If not, you should. It may come off as Anti-American or Anti-Establishment at times but the substance is there because it's history told from the view of the commons. I'm not preaching one way or another but it's a great read.

And my own $0.02. Lincoln wasn't the devil as somebody mentioned. Yes, there were contingency plans to send slaves back to Africa after the ware but does he not get credit for being the first president to embrace even a soft abolitionism? His plan was one of compassion for the slave's treatment in a post-war south. Also, someone mentioned that the some slaves did fight for the South. I've read this to be true. Heck, by near the end of the war when the tide was turning against the South, many slaves were recruited by the Rebs with guarnatees of being free after the war.

YOLO. though i dont agree with everything you say or believe in PJB, your writing can be entertaining and well-composed. as i have mentioned before, if you are looking for work, look into writing. sounds like you may have written for MCAS or some standardized test company before. and haha im pretty sure hull does break like ten times per year. probably like three or four times less than RI... it is a longboard style wave i think too.

This is gold. Getting a liberal arts degee etc. is a waste of time and money. If you have a specific goal to work towards, then do it. You can get the two year at community and use that time to make a long term decision. It would have to be something that is a proven career path. BTW- health care ie doctors,pt, nursing is taking big hits right now and into the future.

You are right about the demographics creating the need for more. The ability to get payment and keep a practice profitable is getting much harder. There will be a need for more in the professions...just at a lower compensation. Right now the time and expense (education and start up costs) make it a very tough choice.

Hey man my advice (if you're still reading this thread) go back to school. Get that piece of paper in a field to stay in the water. I'm one semester away from graduating with a bachelor of science in earth and environmental science and ived surfed my ass in college because i was lucky enough to live at the oceanfront here in vb. i just commuted to school. Trying to break into oceanography or meteorology fields. I luckily just word that I got an interview next week at NASA for an internship. Well see how it goes but once you make moves youll feel a lot better about yourskef. You've got it man. Just go and get it!!

 

A bachelors isnt worth its weight in paper anymore. You'll have to go into some heavy education debt to get a graduate degree that trains you in a specific field if you want to pay off your student loans, buying a house, and keep a cycling through new boards in your quiv. I have a degree in history--the only real money I ever made was as a carpenter/contractor.

If youre going to go to school, my suggestion is to go for some medical ish---x-ray tech or nursing or something like that. You can take that anywhere in the world, and you can get hours that are convenient.

You've got the best 10 years of your physical life coming up. Party, surf as much as possible, screw as many girls as you can (or dudes, whatever you're into), ski like you're knees are made of iron, take up dangerous hobbies, and don't make any serious life decisions without surfing a full day alone or climbing a mountain alone and getting all zen about it.

Well, I always had a suspicion aboot Spicoli/AO because of strange PM's. It always seemed that AO was trying to lure me into bad mouthing Spicoli. Like a test, even.....And how do they end up in El Salvador together?

Then I threw it out there and Spicoli vanishes. Yes, AO was after everybody, but Spicoli hassled plenty of people too. Also, I can see Spicoli becoming some mad genius of internet trickery. He has the ability to do so. And why would Spicoli run tail just because of that. He can't handle that insinuation? Dude, Studlee of the greater Virginoa Beach area accused me of being some dude named "Twinkle Toes" or something like that !!! TWINKLE TOES !! Now that's an insult.

And I really only threw that conspiracy out there to counteract A0's constant dribble aboot Yankee/Rcarter and Chuck Taylor being the same person. It seemed to hit a nerve.

Then Spicoli's reasons for leaving, that he gave me, were absurd: This site blows; it's not helping him become shredder number one; there's too much non-surf topics ( SAY WHAT !!); and he's upset that some grom snaps back at him instead of giving him the respect a surfer of his years deserves......7 months or whatever. Oh yeah, being on this site takes up too much of his time and is too laborious.
