I've started to notice that I'm usually the only one at the skatepark over the age of 21... This has happened almost everywhere I live and the older I get the more out of place I feel. Pushing 30 now, my question is where are all the older dudes? Any of you older guys still skate tranny?

I'm 47 and ride a 2'7" with Thunder trucks. i got the board last year with the advice from some here to help me learn to Ollie. So that i can land my lame airs. i live right next door to a 4 story parking garage that I've ridden to the point that it now has permanent wheel marks in concrete... still need more Ollie. Thanx SwellInfo.

I toasted my knee on a 9 ft halfpipe when I was 26 and that was the end. I didn't walk for 6 months, rehabbed for a year, had another surgery, rehabbed 6 more months and didn't surf for almost 2 years. I can never run again and ultimately need a knee replacement but I'm too young.
Despite all that I still love it, I just can't do it. I skateboarded very consistently from 6-26 and had a blast. Good memories, unfortunately my joints remember all the bad ones.

Skateboarded into my early twenties then put it down for whatever reason, got a Carver board a couple weeks ago, it's been a lot of fun, different than what i'm use to skating on but it's definitely helping with my surfing, noticed it right away, love this thing, can still pull off maneuvers but i'm a bit rusty from the days of clearing 8 stairs, grinding and board sliding handrails, etc., I think I just got tired of hitting concrete and preferred falling in water instead, but now that I've got my carver i'm kinda missing my old boards I use to ride too, may get one one day, idk

Funny you should ask. I just finished taking my Carver for a spin. Very enjoyable with snow flakes floating around.. mainly to keep the legs in shape and work on pumping and carving. I think as you get on in years (say 40 or 50+ in my case), one doesn't bounce back as quickly from hitting a hard surface like concrete or asphalt. Like DPSup said, I prefer falling in water. So I keep it basic. It still is fun and hitting an occasional hill is still a thrill .. just need to be more careful these days, as who wants to lose time in the water due to injury.

Learn to fall and knee slide. All the old pros are still skating. Duane Peters takes hard slams all the time and gets back up and charges. Old is a state of mind. Wear some pads, lose some weight, and skate.

Loved skating for years. Moved to the mountains and went snowboard/snow skate. Moved to the beach and went surf. I've never been happier and my body loves it. Getting your balls hit sucks. Ever had a hard flip go oh so wrong on a gap or stairset? The taint hates it too. The horror man...I will still go Ollie and kick flip or my personal favorite heel flip and its variations at spots I like.

Dude, please learn to Ollie. I don't consider myself old in the mid 20s but I remember when longboards were not cool. That's all I see now. I don't see short board skate except the parks. I miss the days of a boombox blasting some pennywise or some punkorama a rail, box.

I did up until about 2 years ago. I am now 38 and occasionally skate with my son. Knee sliding helps a lot. Here are a couple of me and some buddies who are in their 40's-50's.

I"m 44 and skate at few times a week. being over 2 hours from the ocean I almost have no other choice. And I"m not the oldest I skate with, there are good number of skaters here 30 and 40+.

Yea man, its hard to get it back when you have opportunity to paddle out more often. Living landlocked pretty much forced me to skate more than a handful of times a week. Pretty stoked to get back east and take advantage of more parks in Southern NE

Keep this thread going. Charged concrete all across the OC this weekend and dreading going back to the EC snow bowl. Gonna have to hunt some parking decks.

Carver Resin ! Snows gone but more on the way and even when the streets clear up there's a lot of pebbles/sand/salt left over which makes it tricky.
