Scored over head high and clean conditions at a spot in rhodey today. Drove to beach expecting head high w sideshorewind turned out to be offshore. Got my first backsde with two cutbacks on the wave...also got sucked over falls backwards full out on at least 8' face. Frst timer in that respect backwards rag doll for 35' on bottom w almost ten sec hold down but it worked out fine. Any else score in rhode island? A few other places I could see from where I surfed looked to begoing off too.
A few of the points were Blazing fun in RI. Before that wind went hard West there was a couple hours of just Radness at the right spots. And some of those sets were Stacked for what started as windswell. Curious as to where you were. Check your PM. Glad you got it and are ok.
Scored here in New Jersey but some of my buddies scored up in RI, not sure which one was better but..
I was packing the car w my chippewas on in the snow and set out to what I thought was going to be blown out onshore...so the fact it was one of best sessions of entire year it was a nice surprise. Diggin my new 7mm flash bomb mittens too.
Gotta say when I read it that I was thinking it could've come from me. Everything about it - the backside ride, the gratitude for the rag doll and slight hold down, going OTF on 8'+, the Rhodey score report. Love it. Dos mas cutbacks than I usually have, though all else is accurate. Brah, 9 months ago I was a month into my charging and getting smoked by Nor'Easter megachop thinking it was surfing. Wasn't til July when I was getting respectable rides (sans leash - thanks zach619!) and hitting Rhodey for respite from MA flat. Popped in to check how the EC was yesterday and glad I read this thread. Last day of a 5 day SoCal swing and skated my face off for most of it and got great rides at Trestles today in 3-6ft and clean. So yeah, like 6 inches Hawaiian.
I didn't go, but reading about going over the falls makes me glad I didn't -- I'm fighting off a sinus/lung infection and I'm sure this would have happened to me, and getting ragdolled probably would not have been a good synergy with my "lungs already full of goop" situation...
