anyone know of any shapers in the Delmarva region? i know there are a few but i'd like to look into more and see whats around.
in VB, look at Mike Doyle's work. he's in WRV. Then there's Tim Nolte just N of OBX. He was Mike apprentice. He was doing stuff with carbon fibers in a giant seal-a-meal in the 90's.
Jon Ashton has been shaping in West Ocean City for a long time. I've been buying boards from Jon forever and they are the best I've found anywhere. http://ashtonsurfdesigns.com/
John does make great boards. I have never owned one only because I tend to buy off the rack and John rarely has boards in shops. But I have seen many, from Mitchell's boards to friends that have customs. I'm always amazed at how perfect they look. Everyone who I know that owns them swears they are great looking and riding boards.
I was thinking about checking with Tim Nolte about a longboard. I have an old 8 ft made by him. Here's the link to his website: http://timnoltesurfboards.com/
Mike Hague in Lewes makes a good board, eps/poly/wood/resin tints, etc. http://www.flickr.com/photos/haguesurfboards/
Phil Taylor. He is in fruitland, shaped me a board almost a year ago. Does absolutely great work and has put out some sweet boards. I think Salty at Endless Summer has a few in stock if you want to check out his work. Message me if you want his number too.
