33 surfed on and off for 20 years... I remember surfing some when I was real young (dad was a surfer) but surfed consistently from age 13-16... couldn't stay out of trouble and took some time off ...ruled my life between age 19 to 27...took a job inland to build a resume and didn't surf for a bit but have surfed most everyday since age 29.

I am 54 and started body surfing at 5 and stand up surfing at 16. I hit it today twice and got a few good sections on some choppy drifty slop and had fun. When it says go my body goes. Mind says if waves look good and ocean calls, body do what mind says. Body thinks mind is nuts.

22 y/o... In the water my whole life. uncle pushed me into a few waves when i was 8, but been surfing progressively for 7 years.
Holy crap MDsurfer, I bet ES hasn't advanced much since '74 but was a lot cleaner back then minus three decades of dumping your trash in rivers and streams.
Even back then we called it Polio River, and that's where all the locals did their laundry, and where the smoothie shop near Gringo Gardens drew their water from. Yum!
49, been surfing since I was 8 , so that makes 41 years. But since I live on the gulf, that equals about 3 weeks.
