only rudeness ive really ever experienced was in ocmd and in costa rica once, but it wasnt anything big and after a few words we just went back to surfing like nothing happened.

man, I don't know, but jersey being closer to new york, I think they win. There is nothing, NOTHING worse than a bunch of new yorkers trying to do something all at the same time.

thats a negative stereotype, just like everyone from up north are carpetbagging **** heads and are extreme rude. but if you get off on thinking the south is stupid because of duck whatever and honey boo boo then you are misled. oh and we get all of yall. where i live in the hundred thousands, ohio,nj,ny,California,Idaho, out of all the stupid stuff ive seen people not from the south do on this island and you call us uneducated....theres a reason they come here and not new jersey.

good point never had a problem with rudeness only in Hawaii. I don't know where all you guys surf if you even do because none of this **** ever happens. Of course there is always some multicolored wetsuit wearing pro-***s who think they shred because they can do 1 turn on a wave but I'm from OCNJ and millions of people flock there in summer to prove who is the real best surfer in Jersey . . but theres only one problem, IAM!

I've had plenty of times here where etiquette does not exist because i'm alone here 99% of the time and then kooks come sit by me to compete, so I think at times I have the worst surf etiquette

^^^^^Word. Even in NY where supposedly there are supposed to be a bunch of NYers trying to do the same thing at the same time. Don't go to the break with the cam on it, go next door and its empty. Get up early enough to surf for 3-4 hours before all the wannabe pros are even awake. I very rarely am surrounded by kooks or people with bad etiquette. I consider not being able to get away from the crowds bad surf etiquette

What's funny is I don't think you realize how much of a hypocrite you are... You CONSTANTLY bash NJ and talk about fist pumpers. Where did you learn that?? Watching MTV maybe?
Then you have the intelligence to say I'm using a stereotype... You are just like Honey Boo Boo

A while back someone posted a video of first st in the summer with like 100 summer pros fighting for wind chop. I could be mistaken and it might have been SoCal but I'm pretty sure it was VB. Guys were putting on a clinic for worst etiquette. I've tried to find it by searching through old forums but I gave up. Man that video was great though.

Ugh, that place is ridiculous that time of year when everyone here "rips". Good God that makes me sick. A crowd is one thing, but that behavior is despicable. Was anyone offended by that last word? It wouldn't surprise me. Make my day and Merry Christmas.

My (latest) favorite line from VB...

    Me: Heads up
aHole: But then you'll get all the rights
Me: (calmly) so I just run you over. (pulling a Kevin Hart) OK, OK, yeah, that makes perfect sense. You should drop in. You can find out my density.
    aHole: What?
    Me: AAARRGHHHGH!!!
aHole: (mumbling) kook, don't look at me or we'll have problems.
Me: If you're that upset, we can go to the shore.

Typical coward, paddles over to his 8 buddies and tries to freak me off waves. I'm not Rippy McRipperson but I am polite. What can we learn from this situation?

    A) I didn't yell, so I suck
    B) I am moderately articulate and this guy has successfully portrayed Southerners as idiots
    C) I surf alone like George Thorgood would
    D) Jetty can suck
    E) People in VB own surfboards
    F) People are gregarious.
    G) There is safety in numbers
    H) I can remember past events like a dolphin. I have memories
    I) People like going right
    J) People like priority
    K) I'm closing in on my 300th post
    L) I know most of the alphabet
    MNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

killakiel it's dog eat dog out there. I have developed my own set of rules out there. If you expect every wave to be a party wave it;s cool.

The repeat offenders get special treatment. I think I actually enjoy doing this more than I enjoy surfing sometimes. Cut me off more than once and I will shadow you. I'll paddle feet from you and start talking about the weather and the waves and asking if you have the time or know when low tide is. When a wave comes, guess where I am, right in front of you looking stupid and trying to tell you about the swell that you missed last week. No agro at all, just like a lost puppy. You try to paddle away, but I am still there. I might even ask you to slow down so that I can keep up, or my favorite "hey, wait, where are you going?". It's great. I did it to a supergrom in a red wetsuit saturday morning, he actually got out of the water and walked down a few blocks. It's ****ing great. Really, try it.

When they say waist high, are they talking about the wave height or the depth of the water the wave is breaking in?

Funny thing is the questions usually get dudes heated. I've never made it a goal to follow, but I feel inspired now.

Who is the most local guy out there? I hear these old heads making that proclamation all the time haha
