53 years young and still rockin!!! 23 years on the water. Started when I met a 75 year old with a longboard and funny hat at Assateague. Theres the fountain of youth right there. Gotta try it. Now I have a surfing date with my daughter when I turn 80 even if it means strapping me to the board. Ha ha

38 years old.... Started surfing when I was 8 two days after Xmas. Got some money for Xmas and found a good deal on a surfboard at a pawn shop. (had only been broken in half once!) To me a couple years to get really good at it, then I competed from age 15 - 21.

Though I've technically been surfing for 30 years it literally feels like its been maybe 5-8 years! I have a hard time processing the fact of that many years have gone by.

no offense, but I don't even factor the time I spent on the gulf and east coast into my total years surfing...I learned a few basics there, but I just didn't get to surf enough (maybe, if I had lived in NC or NJ, I would). I even had a about 5 years worth of down time due to other activities here in CA, so my total years of consistent/good surfing would be about 25 years.
