Shop for prices on a different computer than the one with which you'll be purchasing them. I saw a news clip where the reporter said the companies use cookies and jack the price up the next time you log on. I just tried it. A while ago I looked a ticket to Denver and it was under 300. today, 345.
chich, that's interesting to test in real time with two different connections. You sure it's not a function of most airlines changing prices any minute of the day? Most of them do and it's a crap shoot.
Yeah, you should search for tickets on private browsing or incognito mode or whatever. That's really the best way to do it. You'll definitely notice some dramatic differences in prices.
I'm keeping this in mind and will let you know my findings next time I search and book. Most of my travel now is on airlines that only change pricing based on availability and number of days prior to the flight so those are more fixed variables.
I believe it, and I always delete the sh*t out of cookies. I can actually remember this happening while looking for flights. It may have simply been the airline dueshing without the help of cookies, but I'm not certain.

Actually I think that's totally true, and they have been doing it for a while if its true. about 2 or 3 years ago I booked a flight to Hawaii- and was looking for a while till I booked the flight. I was logged in on my computer and also looking on my tablet at the same time- noticed some crazy stuff happening, it was driving me nuts and actually almost made me pull the trigger when I saw the prices jacking up... but I waited and happened to clear my cookies at some point, and guess what, the prices dropped. What a head ache, from now on im booking all my vac in Belmar, NJ... the waves are better there anyways...
The reported said he was looking for prices for some mid Amerka schitt hole no one goes to, then went beck weeks later to find the hike. He then did the same thing using 2 computers. no hike.
It's policy now with the airlines to enable additional hosing of their clients. Esp bad for the consumer when trying to utilize miles. I don't even log in anymore when I'm seriously planning a trip. Sus it out, then log on & book the thing. And yah delete the cookies.
