Im heading to southern California next weekend. spending half the week in the LA area and half in the San Diego area. surfing wise i know what i doing pretty much. does anyone have any suggestions on some stuff to do outside of surfing. my girlfriend is coming with me and i need to keep her happy too. thanks fellers!
Nice avatar brah. Take chica to Santa Monica. She will enjoy the cool restaurants and bars and the upscale shopping. Venice too, as she will see things there she won't see most other places. I'm being general here since you haven't stated her likes and dislikes but you can't go wrong with those. That's for the LA swing. Plenty of SD guys here to help out with suggestions. As zach619 said a few days ago, Pacific Beach is the party spot. Should be an awesome trip. Especially if she's cool with you surfing every day and even more if she's surfing too. If you're into skating that's a whole other dimension of the trip too. Enjoy braddah!

Careful, women have the tendency to tell you they fully understand what you're saying and then hearing something else. If she's halfway decent for maintenance level then she'll be totally fine with chilling on some of the best beaches in the country while you slay slabs. Keep asking the other guys here. I just visit there frequently. There's plenty of guys here that live or have lived there that can tell much more. Does your wifey know that SoCal is the home of the one and only West Coast Swami?
Just because she "said" she understood doesn't mean she actually understands. All she heard is you are going on a vacation to the beach in the land of tan barbies and she is invited. Nothing more was heard nor understood. Trust me.
Non-Surf: In Santa Monica the 3rd Street Promanade. Malibu shops both sides of the street by Starbucks. Also wine tastings further back on Kanan.Getty Center for sophistcation. Free but they charge for parking. For surf you'll need to go south or north. LA does not pick up much this time of year. Recent swells too North 290-305 degrees. Have fun.
Make sure you print out a copy of Gaff's post and keep it in your wallet. It'll be your get out of jail free card once she realizes you're actually on a surf trip and the plan wasn't to entertain her 24/7 since you're on a "vacation" together. It might make the hotel room a little warmer if ya know what I mean.
I just printed this and laminated it and im using it as my travel guide word for word. if my trip sucks im holding you completely responsible. as far as waves the forecast out there is looking kinda shaky but ill do a little dance and see what i can do.
