WORLD SERIES CHAMPS!!! Cell Phone Picture from my world series seat! The city of Philadelphia is absolutely going nuts right now... The streets are packed with people partying.
partied/paraded/rioted in philly last night...near city hall, up and down broad st. market st. went all over the place...one word - insanity probably the craziest thing I have ever been a part of..... Cops were being cool with everything and letting everyone party until people started knocking over street lights and smashing cars....... at that point it was time to get the hell out of there..... PHILS WORLD CHAMPS!!!!!!!!
The game was awesome, what can I say. Every at bat, and every inning was exciting. We had the the second to last row at the top of the stadium (and a 20mph back-wind kicking through the top seats there). Temps in the 30's, but we can dressed prepared. Before the game, the parking-lot was rockin with tailgaters, prob most of which weren't coming into the game. We got to watch both teams have batting practice in left field. Then, by game time the stadium was so alive. The bottom of the 6th, when J Werth drove in Jenkins, people were phanatic. Then, when baldelli hit the home run in the 7th for the rays, the stadium went completely silent, nobody said anything. Of course, Phillies came back on the huge double by Pat the Bat, which was great since he didn't get a hit all series and will prob be his last at bat as a philly. And, when Lidge through the last strike out in 9th, the stadium erupted! Getting out of the stadium and into the street, people were just high fiving each other everywhere. The street outside the stadium was completely filled with people partying and going crazy. These guys pulled down a lamp post that I had to run out of the way of. This limo made its way through the street, and the fans just pounded it for like 5 minutes, before the police rushed forward with masks and beating sticks. We hung around on the street for like an hour, and people in Philly prob hung around all night. I wish I had brought my nice camera... to show some good photos, but it was an experience.
Damn, that sounds like an experience and a half. I would of liked to go out that way but of course, I'm sitting at work right now. I can only imagine what Philly looks like right now.... possibly like a bomb got dropped on it?
Yep, that's Philly for sure. Where's Mayor Rizzo when you really need him? ha. Nose bleed section eh Micha?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXoEo-gxZcs the beginning is annoying, but just skip the first 20 seconds or so. i had the unbelievable pleasure of being on broad street all night. the fire was hilarious and that school bus eventually got knocked over. the cops were definitely awesome (all appreciated my high fives haha ) one of the best nights ever
anyone going to the parade? its gonna be complete chaos. i'm hearing their estimating 2.2 MILLION people. thats just what i heard. should be a great time, ill be tailgating near the stadium
