To answer you doug, i took down the original post, because we are now certain this isn't coming from swellinfo. My initial reaction was to take on responsibility that this could be coming from an ad on swellinfo and to do everything we could to look into it.

The hired consultant told me, this is coming from a malware/scareware on infected computers that may pop up many numerous types of ways and often on a random basis. It sounds like it was popping up when users were opening their browser, which happened to be on Swellinfo.

I do thank you for providing me the screen shots, as it was helpful in identifying what was going on. The consultant said this was classic malware/scareware tactics.

Circling back, I took down that post, so not to scare people away from Swellinfo, since we are certain it is not originating with us. I take things like this seriously, and that is why I looked at all avenues of possible problems within Swellinfo, and hired a consultant.

Thanks for the tip. Which of the two is better?

I never used that computer for porn either btw. I know that's the best way to get a virus. Go figure, haha.

That's why I always use the training wheels on my bike. Doesn't allow room for user error. Who cares that I could get a really nice bike and go really really fast while using my skills to accurately and effectively navigate terrain and have a ball doing it, I can't trust that I won't cause myself to fall over.

Lol sorry I had to, but really though as time goes on, Mac computers are getting less and less equal to PC's. As more and more of them are starting to get taken out by viruses, there won't be a plus side to them soon.

Don't fall for that delusion that you can't get a virus. They are out there and more and more are made every day. The more popular the Macs get the more popular making viruses for them will be. And while Microsoft has gone ahead and really put alot of time and work developing safer virus prevention features, by the time Apple has to do with it, they'll be worlds behind

Tonight was the third time recently that I have also encountered a fake virus popup while navigating Swell Info. I'm going to try to attach some screen shots. Given that I have zero problems with other websites and that it only happens on Swell Info, I have to wonder if there is something on the site causing it. Maybe the screen shots will be helpful in diagnosis. Mainly, just wanted to let you know it isn't just one person being affected. The URL that shows up is http://wed322d2.f-windowsdefen... (that's all I can see of it). Virus 1.jpg Virus 2.jpg

Do you guys all use Skype, or have Skype open regularly?
We have still been looking into this, but haven't found anything on Swellinfo.

I don't use skype, I run Firefox and have gotten the same virus protection scam/spam while on SI, but i think I've gotten it on other webpages, too. It's web-wide, not SI specific IMO.

I'm getting this exclusively on SI. Ran antivirus software twice, windows defender up to date. My computer always comes up clean. Always need to pull up task manager and kill IE to be able to get back to browsing - scareware takes over and doesn't let you close window unless you click 'OK' which would be a big no-no mistake. Here's a screen shot:

2 different computers, using both of the newest Chrome and IE, I have had this happen to me. Yesterday evening was the most recent. No I don't have Skype, or any other program running for that matter that is even similar.

Okay, thanks for the reports. I'm turning off the one Ad Network again.
Please let me know if you all see the virus alert. If you do see, I can rule out this Ad Network.
If no one see's it, I think its a good indication its coming from those ads.
    Thanks,

Okay guys, we have found out for certain that the malware redirect was coming from a third party ad network. We have disabled the ad network until they can solve the problem.

You should not be seeing this problem anymore, but if for some reason you do, please don't hesitate to let us know.

    Thank you,

The Ad network said they identified and removed the malicious advertisers, so we are now serving those ads again. If anyone sees anything that looks suspicious again, please don't hesitate to let us know.
    Thank you,
