I had a bumblebee bonzer for a few years. cool board that i could not pass up for the price (lightly used) even though it was a few inches too big for me. i cant tell you how many people complimented that board. with that said, i've seen more bonzers on this thread then i've ever seen in the water in NJ near me. it really needs some juice to wake it up, but damn the thing is fast. but with that wide tail, don't expect it to do turns like a standard thruster. its more of a cruiser, but dont be fooled, they work real well in big lined up surf. if the bonzer was a few inches shorter i would not have parted ways with it.

i really hate it when people refer to bonzers as "cruisers" or "funboards" or whatever...b/c they're really not. i've jammed some of my hardest, most critical turns on bonzers. they, like any other design, need to be sized correctly. the bumblebee is more of a small wave design, hence the wider tail...the fact that it was over-sized for the rider would make it harder to surf. the overall plan shape of the board, coupled w/ rocker, will have more to do w/ how the board wants to be surfed than the bottom contour & fin set up. since i seem to be one of the few people on here who actually understands malcolm's designs, i'll say that i see the bumblebee as being his "fish", for lack of a better reference; you size it similarly. for example, i ride my retro style fish at 5'8", which is what i'd size a 'bee at also. octafish, slightly smaller (1" or so) than a dumpster diver style board. keep the same dims for a hpsb as you would if it were a thruster.

i would not call the bee a funboard either, but for me, it was a fast cruiser. chest high clean days the bee came alive, smaller days i preferred other sticks. but yes the board was oversized for this rider which is why i sold it. i would not hesitate for a second to pick up a bonzer if the opportunity presented itself.

ive been looking at these boards and hearing mixed things. some people love them, some people think they buckle too easy. did you not like this board or you strapped for cash? not trying to be rude. just curious as to why you are selling.

I'm 5'10 and would like to try one a little shorter. You can't go by the dimensions on these boards. If I were you I would try to demo one before buying. Lots of fun. And yeah, I have heard about some creasing...the nose is pretty foiled out, but very wide, so without a stringer I could see it going if you landed wrong.
