I've been contemplating ordering a Proctor Surfboard for about a year now. Has anyone had any experience with them? I know out in Cali they are all over the place but I've never seen anybody with one on the east coast. This would be kind of a Christmas present to myself.... Just wondering if I should go with the proctor or just go tried and true with a Stretch.
They are great I got one before the summer. They're great boards and he's a great guy. If you have extra money lying around go for the custom epoxy. Its still hand shaped and its exactly like a regular board, cept for I went over the falls and fell a good five feet onto it without even leaving a mark. He's a great guy and shapes great boards. I knew him from a cousin out west and I love the board.
Ya good guy and good shapper. A while back I had a few e-mails back and forth with him regarding his epoxy boards. Price was right but I never pulled the trigger. Stretch is another amazing shapper but he is more of a 4 fin specialist so it depends on what you are looking for. 4 fin shotry I would go with stretch but if you want a every day DD go with Proc. Also I know the turn around for a custom stretch is like 6 months...unless things have changed.
Proctor boards are outstanding. I have cousins in CA -- that's all they ride. He makes all kinds of shapes -- the advice about custom epoxy is good. I've ridden one of his retro boards called the bullet -- single fin with a bat tail -- and a quad. Also -- you guys are probably too young for this -- he makes a high performance longboard that's out of this world. (Check out the video on his website of Larry Ugale. He passed away, unfortunately, but rode performance longboards the way they're supposed to be ridden.)
