Take it easy on Ruggles Ave. guys. It is the best Point Break on the East Coast and can handle whatever swell the Northern Atlantic can throw at it.

Until you have surfed Around the Corner or The Point when it is firing you need to have some respect.

In fact Kelly Slater has surfed there and plenty of other pros including non other than G-mac...

It's not comparable to to pipeline. You can barely even get barreled and it's flat 95% of the time. Hardly a comparison to the wave at pipe. It's a point break, which is a completely different type of wave than the reef break bomb at pipeline. I wouldn't go near pipeline when it's really firing personally for reasons of self preservation. lol

Rugs needs a powerful swell to really work That being said, Rugs can hold some of the biggest waves on ec and is a great surf break. Thank god it was saved this past year from those idiots who were going to put jetties there.

Well I found it on wannasurf. It says it breaks head high so I am assuming it will be breaking like that when I get there. I have surfed in Hawaii, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Guam so I am no beginner.. Its just my first time surfing NOT on vacation. Im not good at paddling so I was thinking of hiring a local chap to push me into a few until I get my footing. Is there a camp/resort nearby to find a local hire?

You say its flat, but the video shows otherwise. People most certainly surf at ruggles, professional surfers have surfed there such as Kelly Slater and others.

It was firing triple overhead right before sunset. You missed out bro. Kelly was on it. So was I.

    Maybe next time.

It was really cold so I schooled kelly about changing at the local mcdonalds so we wouldn't get cold. I sat in the urinal while he had his ass in the sink. Had to give it up to the pro

Its ruggles dood, no resorts near the best break in RI. Just mansions. Anyway, if you mean this coming weekend, you'll have some luck on Friday night and maybe saturday. swell.jpg

The wife booked a trip to Vail, we are taking helicopter rides to fresh snow instead. Thanks for the info, I`ll update wannasurf later.
