I was lucky enough to get this stomach virus thats been goiing around the tri state this week. Puking some Di Di fever body aches all that good stuff. Regardless I am feeling much better but definitely not 100%. I'm trying to get in the water tomorrow as it looks to be super fun but I am not sure if it's a wise move. will i relapse if i'm out in the cold water too long? Not trying to deal with this bug again. Thoughts???

Well, you should kinda know whats good for your own body. I mean, I don't know, its probably not that good, especially if you just came off it. I never surf when I'm sick. Gonna enjoy some fun waves tomorrow myself though. Forecast for the area 3.6 @ 10. Should be pretty fun.

Meh...I'd listen to your body. A short session may not be too problematic...I wouldn't go for a marathon session. But a quick dip...why not. But I'm not a doc by any means...

Tink I've had bronchitis for the past week and a 1/2. F it, chest hi and clean tomorrow, I'm goin. I also believe the ocean has healing powers, not just the salt water, but mentally I know I'll feel better after gettin sum.

I wouldn't do it; but when you're young, you can often get away with treating your body like crap.
It's amazing how weak the flu can make you. Go to the gym and lift some weights after being sick for a week. You'll see. At least if you feel faint there, you're not out in the 6 ft surf and sub-40 degree water.
But why ask us if you'll get a relapse? ...Is there a doctor in the house??

In same spot here. Had real bad flu mid Feb. Today, the Doc, who surfs, said no surfing until soonest, march 22 . He said that the real flu denudes part of your lungs, leaves them susceptible to pneumonia, even in young healthy people. Don't know if you had real flu.

If you're asking the question, it sounds like you're not well enough yet.

I went out too soon after getting my wisdom teeth pulled. Had a lot of fun that day but got two dry sockets. Regretted it for weeks afterwards. That being said I'd probably do it again if it was really good waves.

    I know I shouldn't go
    I don't do quick sessions
I surf till my feet hurt then surf until I don't feel them anymore then surf till they burn so bad I have to get out
I'm rocking a 4/3 in minimum 5/4 water but damn it looks so effin good mañana
Dosxxx I ask the question because we are a group of people who do first and ask questions later
Figured I'd see if anyone took the plunge after the flu
Betty you must have got it bad, specifically I got the norovirus that's cruising the area

Ya I had that said stomach flu. It was bad. Couldn't digest ... But could still surf!

I would just go for it- what's the worst that could happen- you have to go in your suit??

i'm no doc but i'd surf if I was you. I've got a gnarly sinus infection so I'm sidelined for the time being. Duck diving head high plus surf sucks with sinus pressure.

Nothing will clear that up like a good saltwater nasal douche.

I surf all the time on sinus infections, it's different then a stomach virus but they still make u feel crappy. I've been fine, I'd go for it if you really want. It certainly wouldn't help but I don't think it would really do anything to make it come back

I'd do it. Sometimes a little physical activity makes you feel a bit stronger and better.

fine print: if you take my advice and later become horribly ill you cannot sue me.

surfing while sick is probably not a good idea.they say the sea salt helps with everything but idk.I remember like 8 yrs ago when "e" was big,the one and only time I ever took it(I don't like drugs) about an hour before a surf,i was drinken a bit too, some jd..the waves weren't even that big, maybe 3 to 5 ft and I pulled into a closeout and when I came up I started puking my a$$ off,i seriously thought I was about to drown.it had nothing to do with the wipeout,it was the narcotics fault.i ran out the water panicking, still puking, dry throat, nasty taste in the mouth and didn't know what to do.it sucked, and that's why I never did it again
