Hey all, new to the forum here. I'm trying to plan a 7-10 day trip to Puerto Rico in November and need to find a spot that has good waves, but also enough action to keep my wife happy! All I want to do is surf some fun waves that last longer than 5-10 seconds like my local beach break. She wants to snorkel, sit on the beach, check out some waterfalls, and explore some night life. We heard November was a good time of year because it's on the tail end of hurricane season and just before the prime tourist season begins. If you disagree please let me know.

I am not really interested in an all-inclusive resort. We want to experience the culture and explore a little, and will probably rent a car and stay in a few different spots along the way. Any recommendations on specific towns, surf spots, and hotels/motels will be helpful! Thanks! :)

Cool thanks for the replies guys. Sounds like both of you like the northwest coast area? This is my first time going to PR. What about Aguadilla?

Also, what do you mean by "experience the culture in a pragmatic manner"?

Aguadilla is epic. so many world class waves but some are mysto spots that only break during huge swells. If you ever have the chance you must surf gas chambers its a great wave or go down to wishing wells, or manglito(insane wave). Then theres marias, table rock, all the known spots. hopefully you get a big swell

standard stuff; same as one might behave in manhattan. lock your doors, beware night driving, don't fight,
run from trouble, those who would approach you might not be friends. that stuff.

I figured that's what you meant but just checking. Always use common sense of course...

Appreciate the input guys! This gives me a few extra spots to check out for sure. Thanks!

It's only a 15 or so minute drive from Isabella to Agaudilla, so it's all accessible if you're in that area.

I recommend staying at Villa Tropical. Great break out front and really awesome snorkeling right there.

    puerto rico

Just got back and have some suggestions re the other stuff to do. We stayed in Rincon and from there you can check out a nearby waterfall or a longer trip to the sw coast to check out the bioluminescent - very cool. As for the near by night life - excellent restaurants, arts in the square and smoothies - all good. On the negative, traffic nasty, and crime - our place the door did not lock properly and we had a visitor relieve us of some stuff. We hit the typical spots of domes and marias and lucked into some of the best surf of the season - very crowded and excellent surfers. Overall beautiful place and very aromatic (those who have been know what i mean)
