Can't leave out depression. That's a big reason many people aren't motivated to do anything active, and it's a big reason why people over-stuff themselves on "comfort" foods. The other issue is education, and that's at all levels. Kids aren't taught nutrition in school, most parent's are clueless and doctors (by and large) are also clueless on nutrition. My doctor asked about my diet during my annual physical two weeks ago. I said I'm a vegetarian (thanks China study) and her reply was: "well how do you get your protein?". I wanted to punch her so badly...so incredibly ignorant.
