I have a 6/5 and a 4/3. What should I use now out in Long Beach? I have used my 6/5 cause I don't want to be cold and have to get out. Would a 4/3 be plenty warm?
ok sick, my 4/3 doesn't have a hood and non attached ones suck. i am gonna rock that tomorrow and see how it goes. thanks
Thought this was gonna be a cool thread simply celebrating the belated rise of water temps but it ends up being another damn upwelling of the "which wetty do I wear?!?!?!?" tread. In other news...it's pushing 50F in the drink in EMass. Hollahhhhhh!!!!
wtf man really... i cant even believe im reading this. i mean if you've been using 6/4 all winter(i ment 6/5) i think you would know when to tone it down, dont be a ***** get a little cold you wont die..
seriously...i used a 5/3 all winter in Maine (due to lack of funds to purchase a proper winter suit) and was able to stay out for 2 hours (or more) at a time...even in 2* air and 36* water with 20-30 mph offshores (though i almost got towed and had to get out early on that one). SO, i'd suggest the 4/3 or possibly less depending on air temp/sun exposure, or your gonna bake and get out early 'cause your so thirsty from sweating/dehydration
In roughly a week, VB water temps have gone from low 50s to low 60s and pretty much flat the whole time.
Maybe for all the OPs that ask the forum what wetty they should wear on which day we can borrow their skin like in Being John Malkovich then we'd know what they can or can't tolerate. How bout it?
Derailment/ Did you mofos hear that Apple is going to purchase Beats By Dre for like 3.2 BILLION??????? Homeboy slapped his name on some headphones that he didn't make and he is about to ride off into the sunset... He is going to surpass diddy as the richest dude to ever play the game... Good on ya dre...
I took the gloves off today and it was rather painful. Wish I had kept them on. Maybe im just a *****.
That car brings back memories. We had a '64 Impala SS when I was a lad. Classic. BTW -- swellinfo has a nifty feature that makes wetty recommendations for your local break. Note the "Wetsuit Guide" at the top of the page. Your mileage may vary. Carry on chaps..
Went 3/2 hoodless with 3mm Drylock boots and 1.5mm spring gloves. Could feel the difference when I skipped...err...stepped into liquid but that was just the feeling between the neoprene and the water. As for the little that got down the neck or limbs of the X-Zip2, didn't feel that in the least since it was quickly warmed by the body and warming up 49F water probably takes a lot less time for the body than even 41F.
Stepped into the 4/3 (Hyperflex, so really it's a 3.5) today, kept the 5mil boots and gloves. It was nice until I got tired and then pretty cold... but I was surfing on an empty stomach for four hours. Sick sesh though, beyond lucky....
Money is stupid loose right now in tech world. It's sorta like late 90s, now with apple and google buying up ****. The whole thing is so stupid..but then again so is your average dude, so it may be a great idea. Google is like the mob, they just walk up to some start up make them an offer they cannot refuse and then shelf the whole thing. What do you think goPro is worth? That guy now probably buy islands just for his surfing parties. Anyway, I have not had hood on for awhile. Starting 4/3 and booties are debatable (though useful). When in doubt, go for sweating.
