I've always wondered what would happen if the marines / military decided to sell Camp Pendleton.. 100,000+ acres / 17 miles of Southern California coast. It's got to be worth at least a trillion dollars

Not only are Californians going to eminent domain this fool, but They're going to drag him into court, slap him with civil fines, knock down his fences, slap surf stickers on every available structure and surface, AND wax his windows! I love this state!

You want a private beach? Buy one in Goa, or friggin Georgia.

Hollister Ranch is the exact same thing and has been there for a few hundred years. No one took their gates and fences down. It's the exact same thing. Hollister Ranch boasts some of the best waves in the enter state with 8 miles of pristine beaches. Remember this guy is a Billionaire. If he wants to fight the system, he will probably win.

Technically, he can put the gate up and do what he wants. The "State" law in California denies privitizing any beach from the "mean tide line" out to the ocean. But everything beyond the tideline is his. He can put up walls, gates and have tigers running around on the property.... Which is how people surf Hollister ranch. By boat. They can't do anything about that.

At any rate, I don't think the guy will fight it. It's nice to see surfrider flex their muscles, but I doubt this will be much of an issue moving forward. He may even sell the property.

I dont necessarily see it as a bad thing. You can still boat in, and hopefully the guy isnt planning on developing it. So odds are it will leave one bit of beach pristine and uncrowded.

And from what i hear at the Ranch, if you know the right people you can get access thru the gate. Or you do the rite of passage boat trip in. Its like the Lost Coast up north, where you hike in and camp. Theres plaenty of beaches that dont have access to the public. They just arent ususally owned by some billionaire (well other than the us gov.).

Surfers are creative, adaptable folk. THey will find a way to get to that guys beach, even if he put up a giant wall. If theres waves, people will be on them.

What's the recommended board type/length/volume for pulling a Fitzpedo on a tiger frolicking in the shorebreak?

Yeah, the people are pissed because this was a HUGE public beach for generations. This would be like shutting down the La Jolla Shores or somewhere like that...

There are parts of California that are only accessible by boat, but for good reason. The entire south end of Point Loma is protected because of the reefs and tide pools. You can't step foot on the beaches there from Newbreak all the way south. Ralphs, Dolphin Tanks, Donuts, all that... boat only.... but that is for good reason. Camp Pendleton. No access for good reason. Surf the jetty there a dozen times because my marine buddies would take me on base. Talk about no crowds. Wow.

But yeah, some D-Bag that buys a big house is not a valid reason to shut down part of the coastline...

Hawaii has far more interesting beaches with difficult access, but that is just how the island is made up...

Its like Sunset Cliffs and Blacks. Yeah, its a bear to get down to a few spots, but people are willing to take the 30 minute voyage just to get in the water....

Time for the mylar ultrareflective wetsuit/hoodie/board coating (UltraWHBC) field research team to hit the break. All you'll see is mad spray and smiles.

Depends on the size of the Tiger, but I would say a nice hawaiian style mini-gun. Maybe a 8'6 or so, pin tail, sharp nose. You only get one shot at the Tiger so you better be accurate.

Right on brah. Let's give extra flip in the nose to be at an appropriate height for piercing the tiger's jugular. Let's also extend the nose length a bit so we can hand plane an arrowhead/quill shape into the nose for maximal damage upon impalation of the feline.

Lineup Control. Maybe you "cats" up in Jersey need to rent a few of these bad boys for the summer months.

"Zach, why the hell did you go surfing at 8am this morning, and you are just getting home at 9:00 at night?"

"Honey, there was a Tiger on the beach. He didn't go back into the mansion until the sun was setting. I had to stay out longer than I expected. Some other guy tried to Fitzpedo the tiger with his shortboard so he could get to his car. That guy is dead now. He missed."

keep the tiger. If this was my land I will mine it (land mines) and patrol with this bad boy.
