Any other metalheads here? Get it kicked off with some Aussies, Parkway Drive. Hands down, most energetic crowd and band live I've seen (and, I've seen all of them, all sub genres). Also, HUGE surfers, and not kooks (These dudes are no joke surfing wise). Most tracks are related to the ocean/sailing/death by shark/etc Yeah, they can all surf, damn good too. Cutbacks and aerials with a guitar strapped on.
and they put on a serious live show. (track is essentially sharks, ocean death)
Yup. Metallum perpetuo.
This is my ring tone. the band 's guitarist is Billy Gould of Faith No More.
cool a metal thread.i remember like maybe 7-8yrs ago someone sold me an ipod and it had parkway drive on it.i lost the damn thing like a year after I got it,cant remember any of their songs.every concert I ever been to was metal.pantera, lamb of god, kse, hatebreed lol.I was at the ozzfest one year don't remember, the year hatebreed was on the 2nd stage.i was up front burning one,and a huge mosh formed and I got bumped and dropped my jiggy, and the whole crowd stopped til I found it.it was a surreal experience.anytime im at a metal show I feel like I belong there, like nothing to hide, just be crazy and wild, drink get phukd up.u look around and everyone is equal.some chik showed me her boobs for some free demo I got.wish phones had cameras back then.some of my best times were at these shows.
Metal shows are a blast. Parkways shows are awesome. Ever get a chance to see them, click buy. Parkway fans are fanatical.
Sick... My old band is about to play with Eyehategod in NY. All the posted oldies are goodies. I'll post up some OG faves later. if you wanna listen to some really brutal s*** to get you jacked up for icy cold barrels check out Job for A Cowboy. Anything off their "Doom" album is pure gold. You also can go wrong with some classical Cannibal Corpse, "Hammer Smashed Face." another off beat "band" to check out is Austrian Death Machine. Its actually the front man from As I lay Dying (who is about to go away and do some serious time in the clink). Every song is about Arnold Schwartzenager. it sounds corny but its actually pretty darn good and brutal as fauk.
I'm more of a black metal dude myself (gorgoroth, 1349, etc), but I can get down with some CC/morbid angel/Nile. Austrian death machine is a blast. Can't believe he put a hit out on her.
Good thread! I've seen Parkway Drive a handful of times, they are awesome live. That's the best thing about metal and hardcore, it's usually better live than on an album. Some other bands to check out: War of Ages Stick To Your Guns The Ghost Inside Thick As Blood Terror Man I could list hundreds but don't want to get carried away.
Awesome. This is my buddy's band: More thrash and speed metal, but good stuff. They play with a lot of well known bands.
I enjoy these music threads. I'm a bit older than many of you, so my metal tastes run along the lines of earlier artists like 70's Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and Judas Priest. They certainly influenced later metal bands. Wicked World by Sabbath: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9M6Zr4v0Mw&list=PL678DD6EA3E92D4B2
Don't worry, I do love some Sabbath. They have influence an entire genre (sludge metal and stoner rock), so they deserve a lot of respect.
This is how we do metal in the dirty dirty souf...although the drum track needs work. Instead of the double bass need the double moonshine jug going, a bucket for the snare, and a trash can for the hats.
I'll see your banjo, and raise you Radio Disney
