Taking a Vacation in Aug To ocmd really excited to navigate A new costal break just hope there is some bump..but my question is I will be bringing my bodyboard and longboard what can I expect from the life guards with rules for each riding style.. Thanks
Bodyboard anywhere anytime surfboards before 10am and after 5:30pm anywhere. Between 10am to 5:30pm there are designated surf beaches that change everyday. Actual surf is a crap shoot.
Ask GRUVI - he will tell you all the spot... I'm from Belmar and only surf there (cause it's the best waves on the east coast- hands down) so I'm not sure about the surf there but know the island is better
thrashers fries on boardwalk, fishers popcorn, davitos subs on 142nd, bull on the beach 90thish... other than that you can bodyboard anywhere and surf as guys mentioned. more of a shortboard spot due to shallow sand and getupandgo style wave...PMed yuo other spots
Assateague Island/Chincoteague is the place to go. 20 mins from OC at most. Ocean City is okay but it's usually 10 inches deep, so if you take a dive you pretty much die.
Oh yea- just like seldom mentioned- if you REALLLY want to surf- don't even waste your time in ocmd- head north the Belmar,NJ... Home of the 400 lb beach bench press
Good call, kansssss. Wherever you're from, name that planet, eff that noise, you've arrived. Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh At OCMD. Prepare. Dooooooooooooood. Prepare with ya fellas. Prepare to get ssssstinkeee large on waves, bro. Yah. Beach break, mofo, beeeatchbreak, har har har. Blow off that lifeguard whistle noise crap about certain beaches for surfing. You're a greased up, lubed up 'roidal stud horse, an' you surf when you see that shiiiiite breakin' mang. So cool. So rad.
Haha I mainly surf in new Jersey and a little in new York.. But yes I'm going to be having dreams that whole week about the 20ft faces in the mar
Might wanna check your math on the OC to Chincoteague trip. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Oce...19a5c73e20a4219!2m2!1d-75.3788086!2d37.933179 Like the others said, bodyboard in OC, longboard at MD Assateague. Regarding the depth of OC, one storm to move some sand, and it can get a trough / sandbar. Just don't expect anything in August other than getting lucky for a tropical storm.
Don't believe they have even opened yet. On their FB page says they are still hiring and work is coming along on the bar.
