OMG ! A lump on the horizon. Probably not hard to realize that I have been going thru surf withdraw symptoms here as of late in SC but, this looks promising.

    You're in control, don't worry.

I don't know why they call it a forecast, when it's the actual future.

Nam and the Euro are bullish on this one, the others, not so much:

Honestly… you couldn't pick worse timing for the first tropical swell of the season. Get ready to dodge dip****s on rented SUPS and 12 ft foam boards.

I usually do, despite my best efforts. Mostly when they break the rule and hustle to the shoulder ahead of me instead of duck diving behind me… you newbs on the site know that rule?… right? It's seemingly more and more forgotten these days.

I want waves just as much as everybody here. My opinion, we will get something but nothing great. Atleast for me on LI. I'm thinking only waist/stomach.

With that being said, I just found out about this system an hour ago, I only saw a 2 minute thing on the weather channel. Looks like we will have to wait a few days to see how this thing progresses but I'm getting the feeling it's going to fizzle out.

Forecast is better than what it was 12 hours ago. I am going to be an optimist rather than a pessimist and make plans to call in sick Thursday.

I just bought a case of beer, so my hurricane preparations are complete. Wait, it's only Monday. I should go get another case tomorrow.

I booked my hotel weeks ago, you guys are welcome. Positive thinking gets sh*t done, been a rough past two weeks, can't go on forever, we're getting waves whether you like it or not

On LI it's been flatter than a pancake. Looking forward to something even if it's waist /stomach high

I would actually pay to see the summer crowds paddle out when it's 8 ft+ @12 seconds..

    Long Island Forecast

I think its going to be a pretty solid swell. Euro model has been calling this system for days, and it seems to be pretty dead on. Right now it looks like the west end of the system will clip long island which would cause bigger surf but strong NNE or NE winds. (8ft @ 12 sec.. doubtful) So ideally if this were to go slightly more offshore, the winds will be more ideal and the surf not too jumbled up for the beach breaks to turn on in LI perfectly. And would spread out the crowds too. Fingers crossed.

Obviously I was exaggerating, NE winds are still offshore for some areas...We'll see about this forming storm, I was pleasantly surprised by TS Andrea last June. Over head all morning before the predicted drop.I always appreciate Levi Cowan's perspective... http://www.tropicaltidbits.com/blog/2014/06/30/invest-91l-likely-to-develop-and-impact-se-us-coast/

Totally. Love his stuff, every east coast surfer that wants to learn a thing or two about how tropical systems actually work should check out this kids blog. And yeah, Andrea was a similar setup to this storm, If I recall, the forecast got way bigger last minute. Never know with these models, lets hope for the best. But a storm is certainly brewing
