saw that this morning too and literally went "pfffffft yeah right" out loud. MSW's forecasts are a joke

also, ever noticed how their ocean city forecast is the only one that shows any type of size? all the other NJ spots they list pale in comparison when in reality a lot of other spots are firing when OC is just getting some basic waves

I agree it's so weird that it's only on MSW. Oh and that's so true, just never put two and two together. The forecasts are always backwards. Huh.

one way to look at it is that it suggests that you're about to be clobbered by the eye of a hurricane.

Am I the only one who thinks MSW is a total joke? That site is awful.

the NJ forecast’s just jumped on here too, nowhere near what MSW (which I agree is a complete joke) has forecasted for Friday night. I’m more inclined to think the Carolinas are going to get more size just because of the storm’s path, it’s going to cruise right over you guys whereas it’s going to be farther offshore as it moves north past NJ

I agree, but I am expecting 4-5ft. It doesn't get much bigger here unless it is a really powerful storm and the winds are just right. The original forecast showed chest to head high, and I could see that happening.

can you imagine what this would be like if this was to happen??? i mean this will not happen but the closeouts would be epic. outer bar surfing would probably be the only feasible thing i would imagine? has anyone seen hatteras at this size and clean ever?

My fathers friend who surfs went to hatteras in like the 90s during a hurricane (accidentally) and totally scored. I've seen pictures. It was legit.

It's going to be legit up there for sure. You guys are in for a direct hit. I assume that Friday morning will be the clean up and the wind will go offshore.

But if you get out in the mid morning, I would expect solid 6-8 foot sets all morning.

Sucks to admit it but I use MSW & windguru.cz here in SW Europe, as there isn't any good alternative.
Hopefully this storm sends something across to the east atlantic

I mean, for goodness sakes, it's calling for 6-8 feet on HILTON HEAD the day before. That is, to date, in the two years I have lived here, the biggest call since Sandy. And I would call Sandy 5-6 when it actually hit.

Wilmington and Southern OBX are gonna get it real nice.

Very good chance this storm will get quite larger and make landfall as a Cat 2 in OBX.
10-12 foot absolutely possible. What part of "Hurricane" are you missing?
