i have the 3+ black. I like having the options for different film modes. I'm just getting into filming now so stilll learning how to use the modes for the right situation. I knew I would use the gopro a lot so it was a good investment for me to get the 3+black
Ooooh, me and my frens filmed ourselves with our gopros surfin 2 foot turds in NJ. I posted it on youtube. Yeah! Film your surfing from the beach. One guy sits and films, the other guy surfs. That way, you can see how you really look surfing. Video doesn't lie. Trust me, I know, and my surfing ain't too polished looking anymore. LOL.
I've had a GoPro for a while. Don't get the chest harness for surfing, you wind up with wax on the lens. I can't get the harness high enough to not do that, plus it gets uncomfortable. The wrist mount sucks....the camera falls over, plus it faces 90 degrees off. Someone had a way to stand it up with a rubber band looped over it....you can probably google it. I got a cheap bicycle helmet and use the strap mount that came with the GoPro and wear it on my head. Yeah, I look like SuperDork out there, but it makes a good video. I also just picked up a big paint stirring stick for a 5-gallon bucket and am planning on putting a mount on it so I can hold the camera. It's gotta work better than the PVC one I made... Fool around with it, it's kind of fun. Let us know if you find any cool ways to mount it....other than the aforementioned belt buckle porno....
if you're on a short board or a boogie board don't bother pointing at yourself... no one wants to see the bottom or your chin, up your nose, then the crotch shot of your bad surfing. lol. if you're on a longboard or an sup, you can get away with pointing at yourself. just for the record.... unless you're deep in the barrel, pointing the camera away from yourself is just as blah...
