Damn... Yeah, I was looking at the new Tundras, they are bad as hell, but I don't need that much truck. It's my daily driver and I am no contractor. My step dad has one and he loves it, but her runs his own contracting business. And when he drives down here from Baltimore, it costs him like 5 bills. Cheaper to fly.

One of my favorite Top Gear episodes!! If only the hilux was available stateside. Too much "big truck" competition between ford, Chevy, Dodge, and Toyota, with Nissan trying to edge their way into place too.

Sucks we're missing out on the new global Ford Ranger platform as well, ford was afraid it would take away too many sales from the F150. Furthermore, the SUV based concept called Everest based of said Ranger, would have made a much better Explorer than the one we've got now.

Since we are on the topic, and there are a few other Tacoma owners on here. Here is a pic of the new Tacoma. It was rumored in 2012, that it would drop in 13', then in 14'. I bought the 2014 like 4 months ago, and the dealership told me that they are ready to roll out with the new model tacomas, but Tacoma is still the #1 midsize, so Toyota won't release the new one until the current sales drop. He speculated that it may drop in 2015, but most likely 2016. Whenever it does, I am going to trade in for it. Still haven't seen the TRD model and what it will look like, but here is the standard, new model Tacomas, release date TBD:

Nice to see so many Tacomas being represented! I bought an '06 in late '05 and it was the most unstoppable truck I've ever owned. I addressed the stupid issues they had on the early trucks (engine mount collapsing into the frame rails, rear suspension bottoming out with a few hundred pounds in the bed, etc.) and then went overboard with the modifications. It's still a great truck but I made it impractical for most purposes.

Was using a diesel F250 for a bit and it was fantastic. Great for everything except hauling a family around.

Planning for the near future, I'm now in an Expedition EL 4x4. As Losttsol mentioned, it's just a great, convenient truck. Big, heavy, and bad on gas, but I can fit my longboard inside without issue and can even haul 4'x8' sheets of plywood in there with the rear door closed. Nice dark factory tint in the rear give me plenty of privacy and room for changing.

Mats keep the sand out of the carpet reasonably well but nothing's going to beat the hose-it-down convenience of a Jeep or Element.

It's a better design than the current Explorer, but it looks just like a Grand Cherokee with a different grill. The Global Ranger is "supposed" to be debuted in the 2016 US Ford lineup. Since the F150 is going all aluminum, they are going to increase the price of it a little. This will help differentiate between the models more. Source: relative who works for Ford.

Had a dodge 4dr pickup...looked good but turned into a rust bucket...great truck and rigged up...but electric windows not working...electric lock on fritz....plush too...bought this one just for the beach...no carpet, manual windows, no carpet...basically a work truck with no normal creature comforts other then aC, cruise, and radio.

I learned my lesson...my truck is on the beach sometimes 3 days a week. Salt air is tough and Iam too lazy to wash it...just a basic truck rigged up for the beach.

Faster as in straight line or road course? I think I could keep up on the track with 100 less hp.
