Man, if you can get out a bit early from work do it. I just got back from about an hour and a half. I was blown away by how fun it was. It was only mid tide and the form was perfect. Light offshores. Still a lot of power to them, must still be coming in at a longer period. It was weakening before I left, but if there is still anything lingering up in Chucktown, take the LB out and have a blast. I was expecting Ankle high crap. There wasn't a wave under waste high. I wouldn't go so far as to say chest. But SOOOOO worth it.
u guys overhyped this swell, big let down.i wasn't expecting anything over chest high,it is a tropical storm not a cane but what I seen was waist to stomach high.maybe it was better in the am.i was hoping for some crouch barrels but didn't happen.weather was nice tho.Arthur swell was so much better for the 1.5 hrs it lasted
we really need some solid 8-10 foot waves to really tickle my fancy. i mean yesterday was amazing but i need 4-8ft waves every week. im just not getting a rush of the waves. i mean few sets were amazing, the whole day way amazing but i like to test my limits everyime i paddle out. i want to get terrified out there.
Here's some links to some spots in Brevard County, these all look good, but it was probably a foot or two bigger 45 minutes North at NSB / Ponce Inlets (I don't have pics of that, but check the camera rewind on Sufline if you have an account). None-the-less, these were some seriously fun waves, pictures don't seem to do them justice. I can confirm chest to head at the peak in most cases. Some rare OH sets after long lulls. The thing about photos is that it all depends on when the photog clicked that button on the camera, it may or may not pick up the peak size of the wave, but you get the jist. Enjoy... First place we checked this morning. swell dropped a lot from last night while the crowds grew overnight. total clusterfvck. Couldnt believe people were actually surfing waist high waves in a pack. Went somewhere else and found some emptly delmarva nuggets....soft rippable waves... The sets looked just like these little powderpuffs only a foot or two bigger. Summer rarity - no wind ever came up. Great day.
Spent the whole day sitting at home worrying that the swell was to much for my paddling and duck diving abilities. got calls from concerned family members about rip currents (im under 18 so its expected). decided I'd wait and get leftovers tomorrow morning. Saw this picture and now I wanna go out again.
Hatteras village had some pretty clean 8 foot bombs on Tuesday, few people got them, most did not. Today (Wed) was really fun. 4-5 and clean up until about 330-345. Nothing really powerful, just fun and warm, but LOTS of people around.
Was waist-chest around here at today's dawn patrol, nice and glassy. Went a few miles up the road from my usual spot to avoid the crowd.
Waist-chest and glassy is the perfect wave for me. I tend to lose the little guts I have at shoulder and up.

Interesting difference of perspective from two of the featured photographers: WEDNESDAY MORNING, AUGUST 6th: "Pleasantly surprised this morning," Outer Banks lensman Matt Lusk said. "The swell stuck around, with beautiful buttery conditions: southeast swell, offshore wind, plus beach re-nourishment made for a nice combination. It's still good, but I had to get home for daddy duty. Shot this around 8:00 AM." Photo: Matt Lusk TUESDAY EVENING, AUGUST 6th: "Bertha started showing early this morning and by this evening we had solid overhead sets," reports Maryland photographer Nick Denny. "Only shot for about 20 minutes, so didn't get too many pics. I ended up surfing and stand-up boogieing this Maryland shorepound all day. Our sandbars were destroyed when the town decided to dredge last spring, so it's basically all shorebreak. There were over 50 neck and back injuries today because of this shore break. One was a broken neck." Photo: Nick Denny
