More pics are surfacing, these are from the Indiatlantic area, some of the best I've seen! http://www.gulfster.com/Daily/2014PictureGallery/080514indialantic/index.html
If we had bigger, rideable waves regularly you could work your way up. But it's kind of hard, I find, to go from 2-3' mush to 6' long period swells.
Someone has to have pics of the middle of Point Judith RI, not off the staircase but the Outside/Middle wrapping around past the flagpole. I saw cameras galore and a Drone at one point. I went out at 5am and it was juuuust getting organized and sizing up. by 8/9/10am? solid 4-5ft with some legit 8ft thick back BOMBS coming through on sets. Clean up sets were Unreal. Just Walls moving through the middle to the next break. It picked up this swell PERFECTLY. Water was Moving through that place. I was on a 6'7 green Campbell brothers bonzer and screaming through the place. Rad day.
OC NJ about 6:30 this morning. 25 people on two small peaks with a mile of empty beach 50 yards to the south. I don't get it.
I have only had Instagram for about a month on my phone, so I don't know how to link images here, but if you search #bertha you'll find tons of pics from diff. spots all over the EC On a separate note, I also realized that Instagram has lots of women who love taking pics of themselves
VB was nothing to write home about. Yesterday afternoon there were some shoulder high sets but pretty bumpy. This morning it was waist high and clean. Fun, but pretty standard stuff.
Had the exact same experience...first spot was unusually not anywhere near as good and the second spot offered beautiful, long rides. Great day, indeed!
I'm kind of a novice still, but I think today was pretty good on absecon island and ocean city nj. I had fun today and yesterday. Hoping to get the last bit of it tomorrow.
I snapped a couple after I got out of the water at high tide, but none while it was going off. Surfed North Topsail HH and clean long rippable lines with some makeable barrels to be had. Was alone except for the last 30 minutes when some other guys paddled out. They said the pier was a foot bigger but was mostly closing out.
It was good last night. Nothing special, but still some waist high stuff with a little push. It wasn't overhyped in the south. We got it, and it was pretty damn good. Remember, my friend, you live in SC. 8-10ft waves may happen once every 5 years. Sounds like you need a surfcation to PR or somewhere much better than the southeast.
My buddys said some bomb sets came through, but long lulls like everyhere else. Holla if you're ever in that predicament again I can direct you to some more protected areas. I was sad when they sent me this last night...Mystic, holding, god I love this f'n wave:
Couple more from Tuesday... And then this was Wednesday, same spot... Not nearly the size of Tuesday but really fun, consistent, and breaking about waist to chest in 3 ft of water...
Thanks man, I ended up going out to try for an evening sesh. Total clusterf*ck, must been 30 people sitting on the main peak next to the jetty. Got out and and a nice cleanup wave comes Rollin on in. The thing was gonna break right on top so I just paddled as fast as could and luckily I got white water. Got out and just left. Deffinetly not ready for swell of that size. Next time a hurricane swell comes through Ill ask about those protected spots.
if you have facebook look up Matt Lusk and Mickey McCarthey (OBX) they have both posted a bunch of sweet ones from Bertha and this http://www.surfline.com/surf-news/b...?slintcid=SL-SOCIAL&slcmpname=SURFLINE-SOCIAL
