never been but have plenty experience WCSamerica. december WORST MONTH FOR SURF unless......unless... north and northwestward facing beaches are your friends.
not sure about where WCSamerica is, but it doesn't sound anything like Galapagos. December is a great month for surf there. Bring a little more board with you tho, not just a sub 6 ft. groveler.
that would be the west coast of south america (go to school in florida?) off of which sit the galapagos. not sure about them but in ecuador/peru/chile the worst month for surf is either december or january.
