In NYC you can't smoke a cigarette, drink a Big Gulp, or catch a wave on a bodyboard. Land of the Free? Not so sure anymore.

Yeah I don't know what to say about that.... I don't use 'em but my niece and nephew love riding them and it would bother me next time they are out that they can't use them. I don't think the ban will last. it cuts too deep into part of the growing up in rockaway beach experience. I could see if they had an age limit or you have to use swim fins with them sort of thing.....

Yet another facet / manifestation of the nanny state.

Is this not the city that wanted to ban large sodas?

Ya know, this whole business of govt. protecting us from ourselves thing is weak, really weak. Let natural selection take place.

Don't forget stop and frisk. Although I don't know if they still enforce it.

Yeah I agree.... if I had to guess... Im sure the city is sick of being sued and having to pay out untold fortunes whenever natural selection is at work!

I'm sure that's what it boils down to. I think a sensible compromise would be to require fins, or at least i could see the logic in that.

I laugh everytime I hear nyc is the greatest city in the world.yea its great if ur a cockroach.i spent half my life in the city and it really does suck.havnt really been there for the post 911 days, but it was pretty cool while guiliani was in.great dictator Bloomberg turned everything to shyt.its like 15 bucks for a pack of smokes that u cant smoke anywhere.now u cant ride a sponge.whats this country coming to?stop and frisk, your usually good aslong as ur not black and outside of manhattan.manhattan and nyc are 2 completely different things.u go to Brooklyn or the Bronx and its like a 3rd world country.i guess its like Newark.downtown near the prudential center is beautiful but if u get lost on a sidestreet u might get carjacked and shot 6 times in the head

"I don't know what to say about that...." ......?????

WTF, limp diiick, just strap on & meet your buoy toy under the boardwalk. If the cops haven't arrested you for thinking by then, that is.

This boogie board ban is THE epitome of govt insanity at work in your lives. Oh wait, you're the prole who nodded your head up & down like a marionette when asked if it is a positive thing that the NSA monitors all of our communications.

You're a friggin' teacher?? Therein is our societal problem.

Man, have some conviction, grow a set, oh sorry I forgot: you donated those to the govt when they demanded them.
