Well, here you go kids. This is why our area is so f**ked up and rule-laden. Ambulance-chasing scumbags. Lawyers have ruined this country, and continue to do so, every day. I will cry a few silent tears if one of my kids decides to become a lawyer. Keep in-mind, California has a ton of lawyers too, but the past time of riding waves is way more accepted out in them parts. Also, DC is the land of politics, hence all of the lawyers, they are an exception. NO. OF LAWYERS PER CAPITA BY STATE (2013) RANK STATE POPULATION (2013) NO. LAWYERS ACTIVE & RESIDENT (2013) NO. LAWYERS PER 10,000 RESIDENTS (2013) 1. District of Columbia 646,449 51,928 803.28 2. New York 19,651,127 166,317 84.63 3. Massachusetts 6,692,824 43,008 64.26 4. Connecticut 3,596,080 21,150 58.81 5. Illinois 12,882,135 62,496 48.51 6. New Jersey 8,899,339 40,993 46.06
you might be onto something.... "your honor, the jury needs to visit the scene of the crime"...many of us might suddenly BE AVAILABLE for jury duty.
in my town the lawyers are: 1) ill-mannered 2) timid 3) praying at influential churches only 4) republicans 5) no fun at parties...
Holy Donkey balls that is fuked up! Yankee good lord you are funny as hell. I love when you get rowdy in a thread! So many good point smade in this thread already but suffice to say this is some BS Govt interference right here.
I can see it now. kooky lawyer is out floundering and drops in on somebody and gets the aggro treatment. Goes back to the law library and finds some obscure law and then sues because his 'right' to waves has been violated.
It's when I read sh!t like this I feel good about following my own personal ethics as opposed to following the path of material success. At one point I did want to go into environmental law, but then again if I was prosecuting the biggest offenders and knew their personal info. I'd probably lose my job real quick. Yankee is on a roll with the hate, you other contenders have some catching up to do.
We should all grab boogie boards with protest slogans Sharpied on the sponges & then take over/paddle out in the Reflecting Pool at the Lincoln Memorial. Put waynetheinsaaaaane in only a thong and hayzeus sandals, then send him up to preach at the base of the Washington Monument. That would get some pub. I realized that it's been months since I received an infarction. I was so disappointed with myself. Stopped & thought.....when did I start handing out palm fronds?? Then, it hit me, like a plank from gnome's sheep island. If I'm not getting infarcted then I'm not gonna take HOTY14! SIMOD666 hit me with the red card a few posts ago, so I'm back on track folks.
I'm in. If we show up with The Follower we're bound to get some pub, and some cooperation(what politicos would want to deal with that)...as far as the hate, doing good work hermano, good work.
Exactly. If we don't fight this I am afraid to say that we will only be able to enter the water when a lifeguard is present. It seems the government is expanding its control on us in every part of life under the guise of "safety"
"First they came for the spongers. I didn’t like those guys anyway, so I did nothing. Then they came for the SUP guys. I wasn’t into that, and besides they took too many waves anyway, so I did nothing. Then they came for the kneeboarders. I ride a 6’0” thruster, so I did nothing. Then they came for me and there was no one left to oppose them. All wave riders should oppose this totalitarian nonsense. And stop electing the “nanny statists”! Get up and stand for FREEDOM New York!" ^^^^Saw this on the surline article and found it quite funny. Must say I'm impressed with the support from the rest of the surfing community. Nice to see differences put aside for a common goal.
I'm actually surprised that everyone is banding together to fight this. When I first heard about the ban I thought, crap, a lot of stand up guys must be happy about this. Then when I dug deeper I realized I was wrong. It is really good to see this, if only it could happen outside the surfing community.
