Isurus wetsuit, definitely worth taking a serious look at

pulled the trigger last night on the 454 i-evade.

isurus put a few on scamazon, ended up scoring it for 3 bills and some change. last one in my size of last years model. getting in a few months early on it, but stoked!

i read in a couple of reviews about difficulty with getting this brand on/off, and that the neoprene can tear easy. thinking of giving the bag trick a shot for sliding in.

 

The flex is great. That's why I bought it. Like I said, I have a small issue with the chest, but it's not a deal breaker for me. I'm 5'10.5 195lbs with a 44 inch chest. I'm wearing an xls. So I max out the size, but the the next size up would be to big.. I liked the 4/3 so much I got the 5/4.

 

Same issue for me with Xcel 5/4 drylock. I have worn them all winter for the past 15 years, on the coldest days of the winter I was comfortable, more often than not I was hot and finally decided a couple winters ago they were too much suit for me (I tend to be pretty warm) for Delmarva. Sold it and bought the 4/3 Xcel Drylock with the built in hood.

 

What's the deal with hyperflex?

 

Hyperflex is using that new burlap technology right?

Bought a I-Elite 232 a couple years ago. First attempt to get into it (at home, fortunately) I was denied and swore I had the wrong size. Cat from Isurus assured me I was mistaken, so I tried again the next evening with a little lube (tequila) and success. Suit still fits perfect. Wound up wearing it instead of my 4/3 Matuse for some of the colder days last winter. Minor issues with taping and glue after a lot of use and poor treatment, but still no leaks.

 

Is it true that you can wear Isurus suits 1mm less then normal? Think the i-evade 434 would suffice in Jersey winter? I feel like the i-soldier 454 might be a better option when the water dips into the 30's. $680 for the soldier......woof!

 

i have the isolider 4/5/4 and its the best winter suit i ever owned. its tough to get on and off but that is worth how warm and light it is. wore mine the last 2 winters even on the coldest days.

 

I surf year round Rhody with water temps in the high thirties, wear only Isurus suits, 4/5/4 I-Evade in deep winter, 4/3/4 late fall into April, 3/2 until water temp hits high sixties. Ok, I am a sissy, I get cold in 68 degree water with 80 degree air temp . . . Never had a sizing problem with the M suit at 6' 160 lbs and skinny legs, and no durability issues at all, my 4/5/4 is going into its third season this year. Dang they are pricey tho. They are light, flexible and warm, I found it took a couple of paddles out to get formed to me just right. I dunno, even with this Yamamoto neoprene, I find a 4/5/4 a pain to paddle in. Always look forward to Spring and the 4/3/4.

 

Does the 4/3/4 really hold up to the Isurus statement of being able to go 1mil less? Despite your sissyness - do you find yourself being able to get by with the 4/3/4 when temps are in 40s?

 

I can't really say, because I haven't tried. Being a sissy, I use the 4/5/4 until the water temps hit 50. I bet, though, that I could use a heated vest under the 4/3/4 all winter . . . but I bought my 4/3/4 without a hood, and I need a hood when it's cold!
