Instead of throwing those little wax end-pieces away, I started keeping them in a plastic bag (also saved those tiny chunks that flake off during waxing...as long as they're fresh wax). When I saved enough to make a couple fresh bars, I put together a double-boiler, brought the water up to a simmer and melted all the pieces together. Once melted, I poured it all into an old non-stick cupcake tray (got it at a thrift store) and put the tray in the fridge to cool. Couple hard upside down whacks on the counter and the bars popped right out. * if you don't have a non-stick tray, line the cups with plastic wrap so the wax doesn't stick (probably would pop out even without the wrap). * in hindsight, just dropping the wax chunks in the cupcake tray and placing it in a simmering hot water bath would eliminate some clean-up.
yeah, I figure, for about every 4 bars of wax used (full purchased bars, not just halves), there's 1 bar worth of wax end-pieces usually thrown away.
Wow. Good idea man. Really smart. You know, I absolutely hate when I got a little nub of wax left but I can't get it on my board the way you would a full bar. Ya know cause you can't get a good grip on those little nubs and they go flying out of my hand. Then it goes to waste. Never thought of doing this. I thank you. Very much
