From the article it says that if the landlord didn't comply with N.J.S.A. 2A:18-72 through 2A:18-84 you can be reimbursed two times the cost of reimbursement. That sounds like getting back at your landlord to me. If you think he stole/resold them you could file a police report and let the police do the investigation.

Yeah, that seems the best way to go. Landlords get the shaft a lot though by crappy tenants too, so it's a give and take with the way the law treats them. You would be surprised how long they actually have to hold on to your crap in some states. I think CA is like 60 days even after they evict you, like they have to actually move it to storage. Then in court, they can file a lawsuit against you to re-reimburse EVERYTHING, storage, labor, all that. I don't know what the law is now in Maryland, but when I was younger, I had a buddy get evicted for non payment, the sheriff and the landlord just put all his stuff in the street and left.

He wouldn't last a farting spell in Costa. He'd be lucky to still have pants on 10 minutes after arriving.

First of all... you're an idiot for leaving your boards in a common area, Idc how "cool" your neighbors are. You must not have valued them as much as you thought. You leave your windows down and car door open over night? Trust a stranger with your debit pin#? You got what you deserve cause you are lazy. Why do you even have surfboards? If your too lazy to carry YOUR OWN property into your apartment, surely your too lazy to go surfing cause that takes much more effort. Sucks for you, but it was stupid of you to assume they would be safe there. Its good for the surfing community where ever you live. Sort of a culling of the kook herd Id say. But then again I bet your landlords kids are floating around on your precious NSP fun board clogging lineups now. You get no sympathy. You dont deserve another board. Quit surfing, it obviously isnt that important to you. IDC what you say, your actions, or lack there of prove that. GOOD DAY SIR!

First of all, stop talking like a jack a$$. Respecting your quiver, things that bring you so much happiness, etc... We all get how great surfing is, but when you ask a real world question, act like an adult.

Second, sounds like you were too lazy to carefully carry your boards up 3 flights of stairs for safe keeping, and because your neighbors were cool with it, you could leave them in the common area? First, your neighbors weren't cool with it. They are just polite, and very tolerant of a crappy neighbor. Second, other people who rent in a building have zero authority to allow, accept, or "be cool" with things stored in common area. That is the landlord's area of authority. And if he didn't know who they belonged to, or if they crowded walkways (fire hazard), he had every right to throw them out.

Third, since you were too lazy to care for your own things, you are now asking how you can make someone else's life miserable? A guy who was just doing his job, cleaning up after an inconsiderate tenant, now has to suffer?

Go sit in the corner and think about what you want to do. You give the rest of us a bad name.

Big Perm, I don't agree with leaving the boards in a common area, and as you can see, it wasn't the best of ideas. I'm guessing this would not fall under renter's insurance either. Sounds like you are SOL! If and when you move out of the apartment, if you still want your revenge, you could leave a couple tuna fish sandwiches in the air ducts, Out of curiosity, how many boards and how much $ are you out?

Its not rape if you yell surprise! Plus who doesnt enjoy a good snuggle struggle? (Disclaimer for those who are overly sensitive: In all seriousness rape isnt funny. Unfortunately I know a few girls who have been a victim)
