GoodVibes, look at the author of the post, it wasn't me. IMO you can't take an NFL division and assign it parity based on records alone. Scores of divisional games and competitiveness in those games are the main determinants. Those are the guys you have to play the home and home with each season. You ever watched a Falcons-Saints game? I've gone to one. They're heated. Anyone see Hard Knocks tonight? I DVRd it as I was remodeling the crib tonight. About to watch it now. How bout the Pats reading Mankins for a TE!! Dude was hurt way too much anyway. Can't doubt any decision they make. Pats looked great last week! One week away from opening games. The last preseason game is always decent to watch as starters play most of it.
Bro if there are battles for positions and backups then no, starters will get a sniff no more. But many teams have their non-QB starters play a half. Not expecting to see Brady play more than a series. Third preseason game is the best as it's dress rehearsal for season. I don't like the first week or two, it doesn't excite me to see the 90th guy who won't be making the 53-man.
I don't think any of the Raven's first squad are even dressing for the final pre season game. I expect Flacco and company to be in sweat suits sipping on gatorade with their beats by dre on. The only fun for me in the final pre season game, is if there are a few guys that are on that 53 man cusp. If you know who they are, it can be mildy entertaining. All skill positions and anything notable is already locked up for my squad, so it will be nothing more than a novelty game for me. But I still watch. It's a sickness. I even promised myself to care about college football this year. I tell myself the same thing about college football and hockey. About 2 weeks in, I give up on both. These people in the south are nuts though. They don't even know what the NFL is. Half the fans down here don't have a high school education, much less college, but they will shank each other like gang members over a GA/SC rivalry. It's crazy. I am an NFL guy for sure, but I have never seen crazier fans than those of college football. I think college is OKAY to watch, but there are 6-7 games for any good team that are just jokes. Completely blowouts. Blown coverage. It is only fun to watch 2 really good team play. The Alabamas, and Auburns and Florida States, they really only have 4-5 decent games a year. The rest are just jokes. Makes it terrible to watch.... Ohh, another touchdown. Another blown coverage. I just don't get the excitement/
Lost all respect for NFL football after the 2002 "tuck Rule". Couldn't stand to see the commissioner of the NFL call a ref and make him change the correct call made on the field so that p*ssy Tom Brady could win. I was so pissed I got banned from my favorite watering hole for a few years. F*ck the Pats!!!!
Just checked out that change... what a shame. The 'ole Dolphin looked like a real dolphin; he had a mean look in his eye, and leapt from the water with a Miami helmet on, as if to say "Let's kick some f*ckin ass!". The old logo did the impossible; it made a dolphin look both tough and relevant to football. The dolphin they based it off of was probably in the Navy. The new one, however, looks like some p*ssy ass porpoise. The new logo is just another sad example of what's happening to much of the graphics world: classic inspired design being replaced by piss-poor vector graphics for the sake of mobile phones and websites. Industrial designers/artists have been replaced by douche-hipster macbook-toting vector graphic making idiots who are better at trimming their beards than drawing. I f*cking hate vector graphics and I wish they were never invented, this dumb fruity looking Dolphin disgusts me; this offends me more than the NY Islanders fisherman jersey fiasco (which at least represented regional cultural heritage). (For all of those interested, there's a blog run by a NYTimes writer that obsessively follows the aesthetics of athletic uniforms.... http://www.uni-watch.com/) F*ck that logo. Dolphins 4 & 10... Jets win the Division... and in 2015 'Ace Ventura Pet Detective' is remade, with a CGI Dolphin that matches the new logo, and a CGI version of soon to be deceased Jim Carey; Flopping in theaters, the terrible film prevents a whole generation of Floridians from supporting the Dolphin franchise, which is subsequently forced to shutter its doors in 2016 due to financial woes. The Buffalo Bills will not be in last place, for one season. The next season will see the arrival of the Cape Cod Cod's, who will act as the 'Jets of Massachusetts,' hosting Tom Brady at QB in his final twilight years, whereupon he will break his final NFL record by being the first player to courageously transition from male to female (the gender he was born as) while playing.
Bro, that's so 18 months ago. Almost to the day that I joined SI. Far worse than the logo change was going to a white facemask. Makes them look like the Aggies of the NFL. Gross bro. Plus it was almost 2 years before any of us and the rest of the outside world realized they changed their logo. That's how schitty they are. Anywayz, your fins are going down on Sunday bro. Face it.
Okay, the Seahawks looked GOOD last night. The Packers looked BAD. A Rodg was getting hurried on every snap. He was shaking his head at the coaching staff as they called a few plays in. I have that bastard in one of my fantasy leagues, but ohh well.... And here is a little rant on Richard Sherman. Yeah, I get it, you think you are awesome, you went on Crabtree rants all year that were scripted and you couldn't even get the words out of your mouth to make it sound intimidating.... The Packers didn't throw are Sherman ONCE. Not ONE TARGET last night, leaving Mr. Sherman thinking he deserves the utmost respect and that he is so intimidating that no one will target him.... Well, Mr. Sherman should realize that the best corners in the history of the league and the best in the league today DONT STAY ON ONE SIDE OF THE FIELD. They follow the best wideouts whereever they go. Left side, right side, it doesn't matter. This is what true secondary lockdowns do. They aren't a one trick pony that just stands there for 4 quarters guarding the 5th string wideout that is nothing more than a warm body out there.... If Sherman wants to be the best, he needs to step his game up and play from both sides, because if you are the most talented defender on your squad and you can simply be shut down completely because you stay on one side, don't take that as a compliment, because it is a deficiency in your game and coaching staff. For the next 15 weeks, every offense just needs to look right and the "best corner in the league" won't see one pigskin fly his way all year. Weak sauce for all the smack he talks. But yeah, Seattle looks like the truth for the most part. I hate to say it, but they do.
This is a surf forum, not a football forum. Grow the **** up and take your nonsense somewhere else. Your team < Ravens
Not a 'hawks fan but I wholeheartedly disagree. Nothing about that defense or coaching staff is deficient. Not since the '85 Bears had one D led in all 3 major defensive stat categories. For the love of god they dismantled the scoring-est offense ever on the biggest stage possible. Sherm has the most INTs of any corner over the last 3 years. Yeah he talks... but so did Deon and as a 'skins fan I had to listen to it for years. Article is an interesting read. http://seattletimes.com/html/seahawks/2024474145_seahawks06xml.html
They looked SCARY good. I mean, if I was a betting man, I had GB winning that game just over all the off season and superbowl hangover. I was dead wrong. They looked nasty. But, they didn't talk much about Sherman's positioning and the theory behind how they play him. Adn honestly, did you even known who Richard Sherman was until his Crabtree rant? I had seen him on a few high light reels on sportscenter, but he was not the topic of anyones conversation really.... Dude is legit, but tactically, if you just put your WR3 and WR4 on the left side, you have shut down the most expensive corner in football. So, on the one hand, you can say, okay, we are spending 20 million a year to automatically shut down half the field, but on the other hand you have to think, okay we are spending 20 million dollars on a guy who is covering no one, and wont make a play all year. Seems like a simple choice to me. Throw right. Shoot, you can stack 3 recievers on the right and leave WR4 on the left a wreak havoc on them. Until Thursday night, I just didn't realized Sherman can't leave the left side. It's like Zoolander, he just couldn't turn left. Good article. Seems like Seattle was thinking or at least debating the same things I was thinking.
It's Falcon's country down here, so all I hear about is the ATL. They are going to be way better than last year. They were within a point or 2 in half their losses. Jones is healthy. Jackson is almost healthy. Their receiving core is nasty. And you gotta admit, each year, whoever is hard knocks, you end up having a new found respect for the team and the players for a little while, as long as they aren't facing your squad that week. Watched the last episode of HK last night. good stuff. The original, ravens inaugural season was the best still though with the superbowl winning team and arguably the best defense in History.
Yes bro. Atlanta' gonna be sick this year. Jake Matthews is a mutant lineman that'll give protection to Ice. Big things for da birds this season. HK was so sick.
Yup but only b/c wife is a 'hawks fan... and with her college being UT and mine Vahtech, we've both have had a special interest in the Legion of Boom since the start. I see your point tho. Speaking of Ravens ...I don't see it but Chris Berman has a Baltimore v. Seattle Superbowl.
New England vs Atlanta. Take the money line on that SB matchup now with a minimal bet and you'll be pleased.
