Needing a new winter suit for this coming and tried one of these on yesterday. It felt like cotton candy - the 5/4 hooded. The techno butter rubber was light and flexy but $450 is a lot to spend and wndering if anyone on here has one.

There was a dude on here comparing it to an isurus... said the suit was real warm, almost too warm. Looks good mang, I am about to order one for myself in the next few weeks

super warm...wore a 5.5/4 this past winter & it kept me warm even on the windiest, snowiest days. on a calm, sunny day it was borderline too warm, even if the temp was below 10° F. easy to get into, fairly easy to get out of.

i've been a rip curl guy for most of the previous decade, but i'm really glad i was convinced to branch out & give o'neill a try as it's warmer & more flexible than my last rip curl winter suit (a 5.5/4 e-bomb). worth the coin if it fits you properly.

totally worth it. I've dropped the same info on a couple of threads on si about it. I have the 4/3 and the 5/4. The 5/4 was overkill for me last winter. I'm getting the 3/2 this week.

Based on the 5/4 being too warm, do you think the 4/3 would be warm enough for NJ winters?

Everyones tolerance is different. I'm pretty sure I'm going to make it all year in the 4/3. But, if I need to I can jump in the 5/4. If you just get the 4/3 then it ends up you actually need a little more.... then your beat. So just to be safe I would say rock the 5/4. Worst case your hot. No big deal.. you can always let a little in in between waves. That's what I did.

If price is an issue, try www.whiskeymilitia.com they sell a lot of excel, but you'll see other brands on there too. Check the private stash section.

no way. i normally run warm (i'm the guy rocking 5mil split toe boots & 3mil gloves in february), but this past winter was absurd. i expect this coming winter to be more of the same, & pushing a 4/3 in 35° water is ill-advised.

i'll let you know in april; had mine less than a year. held up to a lot of use this past winter, though, & was fine when i hung it up in the spring. i'm not expecting anything outlandish in terms of durability. i normally get 3-4 seasons of steady-heavy use out of my suits & i figure that's what i'll get out of the pyrotech.

Ok. I only have a 5/4 drylock and a 3/2 xcel infiniti. The drylock maybe has another year. Since I dont' have a 4/3 I was considering this suit or picking up a 3/2 drylock instead.

if you can only afford one suit, get a new 3/2. i consider a 4/3 to be a "luxury" suit...it's nice to have, but if you've got a 5/4 & a 3/2, it's not necessary.
maybe get a 3/2 pyrotech. a guy i surf w/ regularly was wearing his well after i'd switched to my 4/3.
