Just watched it two more times.

For those of you who haven't seen it.

A guy in a lime green drownsuit and a horse jockey helmet lost his kayak right next to where he got in after a wave. He kinda just sat there I guess his brain started freaking out.

Everyone freaked out and staged a rescue. The lifeguard was horrendous the ropes were tangled.

He gave a kinda weird interview after still in his helmet.

Yes... perhaps they should stick to their usual activity of binge-drinking.

Watching what they surf makes me appreciate what we have. The other day I had one of the sh*ttiest days out in a while- short window, wind switched early, multiple sh*theads in the lineup, replenishment forcing people onto every single wave that was remotely working. But the waves were vastly superior to those that nearly claimed this poor kayaker's life. Maybe it was only half as sh*tty as I thought.

    Classic ...

Bro, did we surf at the same break the other night? Aside from the replenishment, your description is right on the mark. I'm one drop-in away from cracking skulls of a dude who surfs the home break all the time in the warm months and thinks literally every wave is his. Guy has skill but sorry bro, just because your family lives on the beach in the summer doesn't mean this is your break any more than mine. I'm a resident now for a couple years straight year-round and I'm charging all months of the year. Dude is looking for a dental appointment or something, luckily I can assist with the rearrangement if he pulls that schitt once more.

Yeah, waves so mediocre many days on the EC "but I guess we're not Detroit." Surfing 2-3ft chop in the Gulf in June when that was what they'd call a big day reminded me what really bad is.

Such a great clip bro. Thank you for posting the Larry David PSA on why you should STFU about break names. This could happen to you.

Bro if you waited 11.5 months for that wind chop you'd be preoccupied too! Still can't get over "massive" waves. Massive bro. Someday, we wish to charge slop that big and clean.

My favorite was when they threw him the floatation device from the pier, pulled it in without him maintaining hold, then having him flail on his own again. Real professional rescue skills. Also, that was the least distressed subject I've ever seen post-rescue. Must've been because he just got off Seabiscuit and was still stoked from the derby.

Wow. The grand State of Middle America. So vast, so brilliant.

Slashdog, you still itching to crack the mystique of the Great Lakes surf? There are actual tides bro. It changes a few inches every several hours. Don't want to get caught at low tide, might ruin an epic sesh...

But pretty much this. Holy deer in headlights. What the F was that guy's problem? He didn't even attempt to swim out, just floating there. He should get a leash for his yak.

It is BS that swellinfo doesn't cover the Midwest. I would have been all over that swell. You would think any place that has 6 to 10 foot waves would be on their radar. That place is the VA Beach of the Great Lakes.

This is why we should close the northern border! Those guys looked like Canadians and they talked weird too.
