Job fields can vary its all about finding a place that's flexible. I work for a financial company with 30 vacation days a year plus like 9 holidays. My schedule and hours are flexible as long as I get my work done. And the director of my department is an oldhead LBer so taking off short notice is never an issue which is nice cause you never know if its gonna be good till you get in that 24 hour window.

I have a friend who used to be a surfer, surfs occasionally in the summer now with his sons. He has a domineering wife and works his ass off. He's over weight and though younger than me looks 10 years older. A couple of years ago I told him to scale down his life, get a job doing something he loves and come surfing more. I even offered to take him on as a partner in my own business and laid out how much fun we could have again, surfing all the time, work when we wanted to make some cash etc. he said " dude I'm gonna work and save my money and retire at 60 with a million in the bank. Then I will go on surf trips when ever I want". Problem is he's 47 now and unable to catch up with his deteriorating physical condition and I doubt by 60 if he will be able to do much surfing. I've seen a lot of people drop dead right after they retire or even earlier. I would rather go to the great beyond having lived, not looking forward to living and having it yanked from me.
True dat Zippy. My wife's mom was diagnosed with brain cancer less than 30 days after she retired. 14months later, gone. Whoever said it earlier was spot on. "Tomorrow is promised to no one"
I've seen this kind of thing a lot. I have friends who have aged 20 years in the last 10. It's really the age 30 to 40 bracket where you see this most I think. They get out of school, get the job, get married, have kids, then turn their back on their physical and mental health.
100% Correct. Internet/Affiliate Marketing. You can work anywhere and make serious bank. You'll thank me later. If I had known that at 21 I wouldn't be do much today except surfing, family and beer.
Get a business degree and work for Delta Airlines . Or American Airlines. Then fly free standby anywhere Delta flies.
u turned him into a monster lol!!! yea teacher jobs suck.unless its kindergarten.teaching highschool having to deal with a bunch of smelly no good teenagers always hootin and hollering.i felt bad for my teachers,and I was always the good kid.after a while the teachers give in and say fuk it.one kid would do the days assignment,then pass it around to every other kid while the teacher took a nap.cool old Italian guy,looked like Rodney Dangerfield.he was always my fav career ideas,,do something with computers.learn to write code,or do the software stuff,its good money and technology is taking over so there will always be work
I teach Respiratory Therapy. It's the only career I know of that in less than 4 years (figure 2 years of prerequisite courses and 2 of actual respiratory school) you can make $80+ for one job that only requires working 3 days a week. A lot of people work 2 jobs and make well into the mid six figures. There are a lot of flight/transport options that could potentially have you working in cool places with good waves. Its not a career for everyone, the hours are long and if you screw up, you can pretty easily kill someone, but it might be worth considering.
Marrying money is a full time job. I don't need the aggravation I'm a lazy slob. Learn how to work on kitchen equipment. Restaurants will try to save money by not fixing a/c and refrig, but they gots to cook the food. Pluss there a giant mark up on parts.
