Not a bad weekend. The surf on Saturday was probably the most fun I have had in a month. Better than the past 2 named storms. Freaking blast. A Manatee joined us in the lineup. Was swimming right under us. Bunch of SUPers freaked me out cause they all start going "Holy sh**" and pointing down into the water. I immediately lifted up my feet. So cool to see. I have seen many things in the ocean, but never a Manatee. So rad. So, after that, went to a beer festival on the mainland. and I got to see this: I make a lot of jokes about the starts and bars, but immediately after this photo, you best believe I posted up next to the ol' General Lee and had the wifey rattle off a few shots. The dude even honked the horn and it did the song as he peeled out. So sick! Best buddy had his baby Sunday morning. Had to take a rain check on surfing and went down to Savannah to see him. Great weekend.... Great surf.... Hadn't heard anyone else mention any sessions. I know there were waves in Florida and around here. Hope everyone else scored too.
Meh, crap weather and too much to do around the house. Hoping for waves and sunshine in the near future.
Dude, I had some fun, punchier waves at the lower tide Saturday afternoon. Wind backed off and I had the bar to myslef. Couple of duck-n-go barrels as well. I was totally stoked man. Water got really clean, dolphins jumping and warm weather. Pretty dope. Waves were waist-stomach with a bigger one sneakin through every now and then. Wave of the day...dudeman in his cigar boat riding wayyy too close to the shore. I saw a better looking set coming (maybe just shy of chest), I wanted to throw a finger since I was thinking dude just ruined this, but I was wrong. Energies combined and made a great wave. Wave dredged out, slightly bent knees, she worked just right, got out and had a rifley lil right all the way to shore with multiple turns. Only thing bad about it was the crab that nipped me on the inside. No worries, I will eat his/her cousins.
After missing out last Monday cuz of work....Friday after-work till dark was super freaking awesome ALL ALONE at an un-named spot in Monmouth County. I'm no longer an angry little man. Some left overs on Saturday afternoon with the beautiful weather down on LBI was fun too!
Scored some fun LB waves saturday evening. Also got to watch the the sun set from the water, then see a little sliver crescent moon. I'm usually on the dp shift so it was a really nice change of pace to get a evening sesh. Then I walked da Phin.
Small mushy waves but beautiful weather! Went to DJais for the first time in years and got stoked off the bartender surfer girl! If you know her tell her this is my missed connection post!
I couldn't make it out but Saturday looked real fun in VB. Nice waist+ peaks rolling in all along the beach and hardly anyone out. It was nice enjoying beers on the pier with a bunch of friends even though I was mind surfing the whole time.
Sunday coming up looks real nice for us in the northeast. Best of luck to us all. It'd be nice to have a solid weekend.
I had an incredibly long ride. Linked a ton of sweet turns together. Just on an all together different vehicle. Awesome weekend regardless of not surfing, but my wife and kids were at the beach on Sunday, and there was a nice little wave in the water, and I was still a tad jealous.
Just tried squeezing in a quick longboard play around session. Got there, peeked a spot. Okay not awful, clean, knee high, i'm bored why not? Went to the shop to pick up a suit to rent, chatted it up for a few (longer I guess). Well dummy me forgot tide was rolling in at 3. Went back. Annnnnd nope. Gone. Ankle biters. This weekend will restore the stoke tank, and I need it. This disappointment stung a little. I know yall don't get excited about 5s knee highs anymore, but I'm still green enough to get a good smile out of it. Stoke tank running on empty. #firstworldproblems
You are correct! On way up Saturday AM through catskills to the Adirondacks. Just about as good as it gets weatherwise for riding this wknd. I dont enjoy riding as much as surfing, but it's pretty damn fun!
Last evening it was small and mushy but sometimes it's who you're surfing with that makes it fun. A couple of buddies and their grom kids were out, and it was a blast surfing with the chipmunks. The stoke was infectious, and I was suprised at how well my fish caught and surfed the little knee to waist crumblers. We all traded boards, so I got to ride a longboard my friend just made, and a funboard his friend brought. Just lots of hoots enjoying a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon in the clear warm water.
Ain't that the truth. My buddy and I rolled up your way early Sunday. Got in the water just after the sun came up at the secret pier near you. Nothing epic but better than the 5 second slop we were trying to surf Saturday. A group of teens ended up by us whooping and yelling each other into the not so serious waves. We couldn't help joining in their fun. When the high tide killed it we hit some shorebreak at the secret inlet up the road and those same kids were there. Just picked up where we left off goofing around, party waves and just generally having a good time. The vibe can make all the difference in the fun you have.
