so guys, i have a bit of dilemma. my girl and i want to take a trip, but she doesn't want to go somewhere that i'm going to just dip out and surf the whole time, and i don't want to go to some lame ass resort where all tehre is to do is "relax".

i'm looking for a place that i can surf, while she can chill on the beach and ahve it all pretty close together. like we'd be able to walk out of the hotel/resort and have a break within like a 1/4 mile.

any suggestions to a place like this?

Lots of spots like this in Mexico too. Look into Punta Mita area, or Zihuat. Otherwise CR is pretty ideal.

If you have dough goto Barbados. If not goto CR.

April, is a transition month, for Costa and the Caribe, March will be better in the Caribe, and May will be better in Costa. Depends on when you go as far as the surf goes.

if he is looking at going in march there may be some decent swells plus it is a lot cheaper than going out of the country

Agree on the cheaper, but its worth spending extra to get to a nice tropical place with good waves and scenery.

And yeah, we don't have much up here..but that is a little unusual.. we usually have many decent swells rolling through.

san diego. problem solved. swell here year round. u will have surf everyday regardless of the time of year. stay in PB so ur girl can tan on the beach while u surf. there are a million things to do. a million waves. pb is all beach break with peaks every 50 yards.

san diego used to be even better to visit because u drive 10 minutes south and ur in baja with some of the most perfect unridden reefs and points in the world.

unfortunately, when the u.s. captured arellano felix, the entire northern side of meixco and all of baja is a war zone. they have killed thousands in baja these past few months. killing kids and babies. tourists. whoever.

pisses me off. I used to spend every weekend down there =(

but still, sd offers every kind of entertainment for the surfer and the girlfriend. and u won't get attacked with a large blade or machine gun.

p.s. spring water temps are low to mid 60s. not exactly tropical, but nice.
