Simply amazing, will definitely be going back in a year or two.
Got some lessons and also bought a board, 6 4 webber gutter lover. It's crazy how much I improved with consistent waves and an instructor for a few days.

Only got to surf for half the trip though as we went to Ubud and did all the touristy things.

Why can't we have waves like that here haha

Only got to surf for 1 week since the gf wanted to go to Ubud etc. Paddled out at kuta beach, echo beach, batu bolong and dreamland. Wish I had another week as the instructor wanted to do a surftrip and show me some other breaks. Got some pics of the trip on my instagram

btw everything you buy there you have to bargain for, it was fun for the first week but maaaaan it gets annoying.
And taxis don't stop honking at you, gots to love that attention hahaha.

But the best thing was waking up in the morning, crossing the street and paddling out to mellow head high waves.

Surfnewb, I give you credit for posting a link to pics. Your girl ain't bad, 4/10 I'd say.

I noticed in your pics that there is a quote from Margaret Thatcher.

In case you didn't know, we are not fans of the British here. Maggie's not welcome. Perhaps you cannot see this because, as a Canadian, you are basically a boot-licking subject of the Queen. Maybe you even use Magic Seaweed...

Here in the U.S. of A, we don't like royalty, and we don't like being 'subjects.' We like freedom. Like, the freedom to surf every day and not just on vacations.

As far as the lake pictures go. Wouldn't really be worth paddling out. I guess if you are landlocked though.

The Great Lakes aren't that bad, but usually storm surfing. Did Lake Huron, superior and Michigan. Erie is really shallow for the most part compared to the others by far. Do it if ya can and be on the look out for big floating debris. Railroad ties, trees and just garbage. Grew up in the mitten, that's how I know. A waves a wave just not as fun as the warm ocean. Enjoy!

Those waves are at least 4 feet. you must live on the west coast.
