hey guys im going to to grab a k small board this weekend and cant pick between the quad with swallow or the thruster with squash i need your opionions of quads vs thrusters in head high and under normal conditions
I just ordered a custom 5-fin because I had the same problem. I figure this way I can play around with different fin configurations and see what I like best.
i bought a quad last spring and i hated switching back to my thruster when it was big because my quad had a skatey feeling and worked from knee to slightly overhead. its your opinion i know people who hate quads and stick with a thruster but i would definelty try out a quad before buying one if you already havent.
depends on you I like my fish in the surf we get around here which is a quad. most of the breaks are slower but if we actually get a decent swell with a decent period I ride my thruster. for me the thruster holds a lot more solid in steeper waves having that center fin is great. When I travel I always leave the fish at home and bring my thruster boards since there is a lot more power. having said all that 80 % of the time around here I ride my fish. I can say I bought a quad and tried to surf it on a bigger day at a more powerful wave around here and I hated it. It spinned out a lot more than my thruster because of the lack of the center fin. then again some people ride quads in huge waves depends on your style. first thing is first lets get a decent winter swell here!
