Looking for some info on flying boards on Alaska Airlines. We all ready have tickets. Has anyone flown a long board with them 9' or so? There website talks about 115\" linear inches (length+height+width) this would be mostly short boards if they stuck to this. We are going portland,or to hawaii. some forum pages seem to indicate that it is 115\" max length. Could use some help if anyone has any recent experience. Thanks for the help :D

peace mike

Just rent or buy a noard in Hawaii it would be much cheaper than that air fair

The linear measurement parameter applies to items other than surfboards. As long as they don't measure your package, you're good to go.

Airline: Alaska Airlines
Surfboard Fee: $75

Website: www.alaskaair.com
Telephone: US/Canada 1(800)-252-7522. UK +44 800-2527-5200. France +33 800-2527-5200.

Specifications:
We are allowed to fly with two surfboards inside one board bag, 118″ in length (9’8 ft), and pay oversize baggage fee of $75.
The 115″ linear measurement, as stated at website, applies for other sporting equipment, not for surfboards. Please mention this to Alaska Air staff at the airport.

Notes: Alaska Airlines will accept surfboards as checked baggage provided each piece is properly packed in a soft or hard sided case designed specifically for it.

Just flew back from Long Beach last night on JetBlue. Let me say again how amazing that airport is in all ways. Always is. The ticketing agent didn't charge me for checking my board. It would only have been $50 on JB anyway. There were slight, slight spiderwebs on each rail a couple inches long but other than that it was solid. I didn't exactly pack it OCD this time. Only gave padding to the nose and tail since I was a bit rushed with LA traffic to airport.

yankee you slimy fock. Obvi I'm not gonna get razzed be your post. It's fairly solid bro. We've discussed the flight attendant issue in the past on PM. You know that. God Bless any fly wahine that is staffed on an airline these days. Imagine if we were getting handed ear plugs and waters by a 9.5 cmonn. Thanks for trying to keep me honest bro.

Btw...why don't you do the same with Gaff's posts. That'd get you far more HOTY14 points. And we know how you're pressing in the last two months of voting bro.

How was that swell in AI bro? Hope you scored son! The wahine come out for it?

Read the other half of my posts that don't make you somehow feel self-conscious and you'll do much better bro. Like I've said before - I post a lot. That means a lot of posts about what I'm doing and think, and even more about what everyone else is doing and thinks.

Honestly, bro, the percentage of my posts that are about me are half or less than your posts that are about you. It's unfortunate you are unsettled that I was not handed a surfboard at the moment I was severed from my Mom's Fallopian tube, but we can still enjoy the same pastime and it be ok.

You're a scholar - let's do the math. How many cats on SI have got more stoked about their own surfing or rediscovered it because of my posts? BassMon, bubonickphonics and several others can attend to the validity of me pressing the submit post button. So can the legions of Swellers that are now stoked on carvers because of my endorsement of the experience.

Bro, you want to call me out sometimes but not all the time? Don't be afraid of the height from your soapbox if you're gonna climb the steps of it. Don't be selective in your battles - step to any that I'm willing to step to you in. You throw a beta bomb in another tread about kooks, I answer it, then you act like it doesn't exist. Couple weeks go by and you toss another subliminal hook. You're mad that I'm stealing you're frame? Then claim it bro. You're the WCS.

Any sweller's posts are public record. You know that more than anyone Gaff, you and your Beautiful Mind. Let the public review how many of your posts are about you and how many of mine are about me. Oh yeah, the posts you make tearing kooks apart with all seriousness do not satisfy this debate. They're only proof of your pompousness and hilarious belief that anyone not conceived with a single fin up their arse can't ever set foot on a surfboard.

Hey Gaff, you can taste deeze...

LOLZ all in good fun bro, take a deep breath and eat a fish taco

Post about you all the time? Bro, does your mom love you? You're not even good at projection - you go out of your way to post at/about me. Trying hard to ignore me bro, are you? Thanks for posting bouts a step up board in SD CL. Maybe that was you trolling...

We can have a mutual agreement to not post about each other or we can respectively put each other on the "ignore" list. Something tells me if you really didn't want to read what I wrote you'd have done that a while ago. I go for periods of time not acknowledging you and then you go all out unsolicited towards me as if you've spent many sleepless/stokeless nights trowing plastic knives at a Spicoli poster on your wall. Really not sure what part of your psyche that I get you hating yourself for, but you're the armchair psychology/everything genius. You'd know better than I.

Honestly bro, you don't like my posts? Put me on ignore - you've told numerous cats on here how to use that function. I did it a while ago for both Manisses and Speed Bump and ever since, both I and them have enjoyed SI quite well in our own independence.

I don't have hate towards you bro. I'm fairly indifferent. It is amusing when you get escalated though, but I actually like SI more without the crap fighting. This is a pretty cool place when dudes are sharing quality info and laughs. Let go of your hang ups - I thought you were the living, breathing epitome of Californian chillness.

Unless SJB has something to say bout this, I don't know why we should even take up further Sweller bandwidth on the issue.

Try to develop a sense of humour, Opie. You take yourself way too seriously, IMHO. Defense, defense, defense...lighten up, Frantic Francis.

Gaff's a solid dude. He gets & reps what surfing is / should be. Again, IMHO. I ain't lookin' for his vote, neither, just sayin' the obvious.
