    Hey Everyone!

I've been searching around for a groveler for our mushy small weekend waves here on the east coast. My plan is to search & research all winter and make a purchase for next summer.

I mainly ride a 7'6 funboard which is great for most conditions. I also have a 5'4 CI weirdo ripper used (super small but for the $ had to pick up) I liked having a smaller/lighter board so I can duck dive & maneuver easier. Just looking for a happy medium of the two thats duck dive-able for larger waves (larger for me is about 5ft+, no OH for me ha!) but has full volume for fun on the small, weak, 2 to 3ft waves.

I'm 5'6 & 125 pounds. One person at a local shop suggested a 5'10 V3 rocket from ...Lost but still seems on the more high performance side.
    - ...Lost | Uber Plank looks like a really fun shape just not sure of size - can't find that information anywhere.
    - Rusty | Dwart I've heard good things about too

Totally open to suggestions & love to hear personal reviews - thanks! :)

I know there have been a ton of groveler threads & I've read through them but just curious to see some opinions more tailored for my needs.

If you're looking for something tailored to your needs you might do well to go to a local shaper and get a custom board. It shouldn't run you more than a board from CI, Lost, Firewire, etc.

Since your looking for something a little less high performance why not look into a fish or maybe a small little egg shape?

suggest 'chubby chedda' by firewire; i dunno; maybe 6/2....
altho this not a groveler it kinda sounds like what you asked for.

+1. go local if you can. usually is cheaper and the local guys can cater to the style of waves that you may be surfing on a daily basis.

a round nose fish shape would be a happy medium. they tend to have more volume but also still perform well in surf under head high depending on skill level. i love my RNF shape and surf it almost as my daily driver shortboard when im not longboarding or wanting to surf in a more high performance style.

there are also a bunch of other options as well. im sure the coil crew will post in here as well. definitely explore your options especially if your more interested in durability, price, materials, etc.

Just checked this out and looks like an awesome board - shape looks perfect! Thanks for this suggestion!

I would like to have a locally shaped board so it's definitely an option - these suggestions are just great to hear / see so if I do end up going custom I have a bit of a base to work from and then perfected by them from local knowledge of the breaks.

at 125 pounds, you can ride just about anything. my suggestions:
    -firewire sweet potato
    -average joe (CI)
-any of those newer ...Lost domesticated models
-Dwart by Rusty...saw a guy shredding little nothing waves last Thursday on one of them.
-or just screw it and buy a nice big single-fin longboard. you gotta have a longboard in the quiv, or else you're missing out on a great way to surf

    Lost Bottom Feeder.

Get it pretty small since they carry a ton of volume. Perfect for east coast mush. Been surfing mine since last spring with everything from a 5 mil/boots/gloves/hood to bareback. Ride it 90% of the time unless we get a solid swell. Most fun I've had in years on small and even slightly bigger but mushy days. For reference I'm 5'10 /160 pounds and I'm riding a 5'5. You could probably get a 5'0 and have plenty of float.

check out the mini simmons design. best groveler board ive ever had. i got a christenson ocean racer a couple summers ago. christensons are a bit pricey but you could have one shaped for you by someone local.
the pier pony someone else mentioned is also a great choice. ive ridden that in some small surf and it works well. ocean-racer-01-719x960.jpg

I think it's fair to assume that anyone that comes on this forum with a woman's name and even a semi-attractive profile picture will receive actual helpful feedback instead of an endless deluge of insults.

Stewart Fartknocker is a great board. Nice and wide with lots of volume and not too much length. I have a 5'6 that is just awesome. I believe that Pioneers has one for sale in NH. Also take a look into the "mayor" that Summer sessions are peddling. They look good for our surf, are recommended for it, and are small and light. I would buy one but I already have too many boards. Or so the girl says.

I think something like the Lost Domesticated models would be great for you.

Make sure you don't get a board that's too big even though you will be using it for groveling. You want to be able to duck dive and put it on rail even in small waves
