Alright im ordering a new board this week and need some help. I am looking for a fish shape that allows me to catch waves easier but still makes snappy turns, and caters to the new school style of aerial surfing. I have been looking at the Al Merrick Fishcuit, Biscuit, and Pod shapes, and possible a ...lost round nose fish. Any suggestions would be appreciated, and im also looking for suggestions as to a quad fin or thruster.
Rnf Get the RNF i love mine and its perfect for thoses smaller days and it has more of a skatey feel, perfect for arials and snappy turns.
Can't say enough about Losts' Shark model. I got it last spring, and surfed it in everything from 2 foot mush to 2-3 foot overhead and hollow waves. comes with a quad or thruster fin setup, so you can experiment and see what works best for you. the board is really fast, and catches waves easily.
The Lost RNF was designed to do exactly what you want...easy wave catcher, curvy outline so it turns on a dime. Plus, Matt Biolos has been refining the shape for over 10 years. I'm not a fan of the biscuit cause they make it so freaking thick...if your big dude then maybe yeah.
yo dude i wanna tell you one thing, buy the al merrick fishquit, the board is sick, so much fun, and "whips" im not good trying to get air but my one friend was gettin nasty on it
I've owned one RFN in the past and liked it but i was kinda hoping to try something new, and yes i am a bigger dude. I was leaning towards the fishcuit but started to worry about how it turned just because of how wide the tail is. The OC guys will appreciate this too, I plan on a MD flag for the whole bottom of whatever board i decide to get. So stoked on it!
I've loved the RNF for years, but if your looking into merricks check out kelly's new board "the whip" it looks pretty sweet, more of like a rocket-fish type shape tho.
