whether or not you care about professional surfing, Pipe is the Superbowl. All stats point to Medina and that's great. Mick surfs amazing, some say like a robot, i say terminator. I would like to see Taj win a title he puts in such hard work and kills it. Who would you like to see win a title?

It's all about the heat draws. I just read Ke11y hurt his foot at Cloudbreak and may not me 100% at pipe. I can see this going to Mick, Medina or Kelly.

why was Taj brought up? Isn't he like 9th in points or something around there? I would love to see Taj finally win a title, but unfortunately that's not happening this year

@Zombie, the end of my tread was who would you like to see win a title. I give Taj 3 more years I hope it happens and he definately paid more than his share of dues and innovated a lot of the tricks the younger guys are using

    yet.....the flair...so noticeable (by most i think)...of the younger contenders....perhaps is lacking.

true that, I hope he can snag a title before he gets too old. past couple years he has really shown is dedication and commitment to training and surfing as hard as possible

As an American and right coaster, I'm always pulling for Kelly to win. 12 time champ has a nice ring to it and is a good, round number. Get one more and let the kids have at it. With that being said, I think anyone is a fool think Kai Otton won't win this year. Dude's a shoe-in.

no, why medina? I really like you baddy, but your love of brazzos indicates some sort of stockholm syndrome

I think/hope Kelly will win. I just hope Medina and Mick get knocked out early enough.

Sic post bro. Way to make the SI storyline a psychothriller. I'm sure it went over most Sweller's domes, but good work.

well they did hijack common sense, they beat propriety to a bloody pulp and seemed to have kidnapped decency....

    went over my head too.
i like to think its talent that i favor instead of 'x' nationality.
truth be known as prev posted i have a soft-spot for brasileros cause in the 80's in north peru
i hooked up with a group of them for multiple empty super spot desert surfs which in my book which few
have read cause its unpublished it was one of my better adventures.

one day i surfed 4 hours straight in the desert under the hot sun of something like 5 deg south
latitude and i was burnt toast and my brasilero friend marcelo abinader handed me a mango which
tasted so good i ignored my self-imposed ban on fruits and vegetables and enjoyed it. about 10 days later
    i recovered from gringo-itis.....

Again, I posted it before but don't remember, it is almost mathematically impossible for Medina to lose. Kelly has to win outright I believe and so does taj, but with some help. Like, medina out in first elim round and Taj wins it all. I think Kelly just has to win. And maybe JJF has to win and have medina do poorly and have taj and kelly do poorly....

Something like that. Kelly is the best surf out there. Maybe if he gets a huge shack and then hucks a 540 like we have all seen him do, he can walk off like a boss. Kelly goes big in all events, but I would like to see him take some chances and do something absolutely crazy, even if he falls. He is surfing well. I hope he nails it.

I think you mean Mick, not Taj... JJF can't win.

Kelly and Mick would both have to win and Medina would need to finish 25th or lower

Mick even. Yes. But I am pretty sure that JJF has a slight chance, albeit it impossible. But I could have sworn when I quoted that article, they said if john john wins and everyone else finished outside the top 25, he could win.

I think we all see the writing on the wall.
