Nope. JJF was eliminated in Portugal. He needed to win to stay alive.

1. If Medina finishes 2nd or better at the Billabong Pipeline Masters, he will clinch the 2014 ASP World title;
2. If Medina finishes 3rd at the Billabong Pipeline Masters, Fanning will need to win the event and Slater will be out of contention;
3. If Medina finishes 5th at the Billabong Pipeline Masters, Fanning will need to win the event and Slater will be out of contention;
4. If Medina finishes 9th at the Billabong Pipeline Masters, Fanning will need to finish 2nd or better, and Slater will be out of contention;
5. If Medina finishes 13th or 25th at the Billabong Pipeline Masters, Fanning will need to finish 3rd to win or 5th to send the title race into a one-heat "surf-off" between himself and Medina;
6. If Medina finishes 13th or 25th at the Billabong Pipeline Masters, Slater will need to win the event;

I think it was last yr mick vs Kelly for the crown,mick had to place less than 5th or something and Kelly had to win the event.kelly did win the event but lost to mick for the asp.then Kelly went on to win the volcom pipe contest.nobody will ever fill his shoes,not jjf ,not some supergrom that wasn't even born yet,kelly is just a born winner.u ask slater,how do u celebrate after u win,slater goes surfing.whats slater do if he loses,go surfing.guys like andy,mick,parko,they win and go party nonstop for the next week.thats what seperates slater from everybody else.and like his caddy said,kelly doesn't have a home.he bounces back and fourth non stop chasing swells between contests,and after contests he sticks around and surfs there after everybody leaves.i remember one surf movie a while ago,slater was in the Portugal contest,waves were crappy so he drove 8 hours to france to surf head high barrels and said he would've drove 10 days to surf waves like that.some people want to win,Kelly just wants to surf and that's why hes the champ
