So I used the SEARCH tool, and I couldnt really find an answer, but I was having problems with wax. This is for BBers here, but I have a problem of my wax coming off when Im out there for a while, and Im curious as to what types of wax you dudes use for this colder water on a bodyboard?

I wax the crap outta my board before I go out and it usually rubs off. Now, I know theres different deck materials, I ride a Science board (obviously) and its more of a porus surface than, say my older BZ. I never had a problem with the BZ cause that material is more of a smooth surface, but the Science? Much different, more like a Toobs board.

So Im just curios as to what types of wax some of you fellas are using? Something obviously cold water. But just in particular what works well for you dudes. Thanks for the input.

Make sure you are using cold water wax & not warm water.

Also need to take off the summer wax if you haven't already. Don't put the cold over old or warmer water wax.

Mrs Palmers, sticky bumps work fine for me, just see above.

i use mr. zog's navel wax. seems to work the best. i remember reading a while back in bodyboarding magazine that you shouldn't use warm water wax on a bodyboard...never understood why though. Like chuck said, remove your old wax too, that should help. Use warm water and a towel.

warm water is made to withstand the heat more - without melting... so warm water wax, will become super hard in the winter time and will be difficult to get off.

So, if your wax is coming off real easy, maybe go to a warmer wax or switch brands. Generally, wax doesn't come off to easily in the winter time.

My science board does the same thing it only keeps wax in a couple ramdom spots.

I've become a real Sticky Bumps fan, but you do need to match the water temp formulations. I also strip my wax before every airline trip so don't experience too much of the hot vs. cold wax issues. Additionally, I apply wax lengthwise before across the board, and then maybe using a circular motion.

yeah...sticky bumps works good for me...my board deck is porus, too (custom x) and wax stays on...i can usually get a couple sessions with one wax.

Chances are if your using that much wax your not riding right....only place you need wax is your elbows and your hands

For me it does, just suit or no suit I was referring to. Bare belly is different cause it will stick to my belly hair and keep me in place, but with a suit its different - it tends to rub off and make me slippery on my board.

I just want warm water again :(:(

I understand what you are talking about now. Your wetsuit needs some "wax conditioning" to get the sticky grip going. It probably has something to do with the oils in the neoprene. One of our scientists on the group could probably elaborate.
